Correct use of Golden One Minute is effective in reducing infant mortality rate

Auraiya, 21 February (HS). To provide information related to first aid and care under the Newborn Child Protection Program, a two-day training of staff nurses (ANMs) working in health institutions under the Newborn Child Protection Program was completed in the 100 bed District Joint Hospital on Wednesday. The trainees were told how the first golden minute after birth can be used to keep the newborn safe and its life can be saved.

The two-day training program is being organized by the District Health Committee in different batches. In this training, a total of 24 staff nurses and ANMs from each block were trained. This training was given by the doctors of the hospital and technical experts of UPTSU institute. During this time, practicals were also given by taking them to the Sick New Born Care Unit (SNCU). Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Sunil Kumar Verma presented training certificates to the participants.

CMO said that one minute after the birth of the child is considered as golden time. It is necessary for the child to cry in this one minute. He said that the biggest reason for infant death is lack of timely treatment and information. If proper care and treatment is given to the baby immediately after birth, then infant mortality rate will definitely reduce.

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shishir Puri said that health workers have an important role in making human life happy. Child is an integral part of happiness in any family. To reduce infant mortality rate, service should be good. Information is necessary for better service.

While giving the training, Chief Instructor Dr. Utkarsh said that birth asphyxia or birth asphyxia is a condition in which a newborn neither cries nor breathes after birth, this happens due to lack of oxygen in the child's brain. Lack of oxygen can mainly be due to dirty water entering the child's mouth, being underweight, being born prematurely or having a congenital defect. During this period, if the newborn does not get proper care immediately, there may be a risk of his life being lost.

Chief instructor Dr. Jaybir said that the objective of the Newborn Child Protection Program is to train health workers in child care and resuscitation. This program has been launched to discuss prevention of hypothermia at birth, early initiation of breastfeeding and basic neonatal resuscitation.

Senior consultant and chief trainer Dr. Jaswant Ratnakar said that the main reason for birth asphyxia in newborns is due to dirty water entering the child's mouth. He told that to prevent this problem, the position of the child should be changed so that the child can vomit and the dirty water can come out.

Dr. Gaurav Ojha, expert of UPTSU organization, said that breastfeeding is like nectar for babies within the first hour of birth. This period is more important in two ways. The first is that the baby is most active for the first two hours. By starting breastfeeding during this period, the baby is able to breastfeed easily. In both normal and cesarean delivery, it is advisable to breastfeed within one hour. This helps in developing the immunity of the child. Due to which the child is also protected from serious diseases like pneumonia and diarrhea. On this occasion, Maternal Health Consultant Akhilesh Kumar and other staff were also present.
