Whereas in comparison to 1950, the minority population has increased by 43.15 percent till 2015. In 1950, Muslims constituted 9.84 percent of the population. In 2015, Muslim population increased to 14.09 percent. However, the numbers of Jains and Parsis have declined in the meantime. There has been a 5.38% increase among Christians, 6.58% among Sikhs and a slight increase among Buddhists.
