Fraud of Rs 1.5 crore in the name of housing scheme for Rs 10 lakh in Kalyan

Mumbai: Police have registered a case against a couple for allegedly defrauding home buyers of Rs 1.48 crore in Kalyan in Thane district. Police on Friday registered a case against Suresh Pawar and his wife Sheela under IPC sections 420 (cheating) 406 (criminal breach of trust) and other charges after a victim of the fraud reported the matter, a police officer said.

Giving more information in this regard, this officer clarified that the said couple living in Kalyan allegedly lured the needy people who wanted to buy a house by getting them a house for just Rs 10 lakh under the BSUP (Basic Service to Urban Poor) scheme. Was.

For this, the accused had created fake documents like payment receipts, registered documents of allotment etc. In this way, the couple allegedly defrauded various home buyers to the tune of Rs 1.48 crore.

It was clarified that the police have not made any arrests in the case and further action will be taken after further investigation.
