Ghaziabad, 03 May (Hindustan Reporter). The Crime Branch on Friday busted an inter-state gang involved in stealing mobile tower equipment. Police have arrested 06 vicious criminals of the gang. Stolen goods worth about Rs 4 crore and the equipment used in committing theft have been recovered from their possession.
ADCP Sachchidanand said that the gang has committed incidents of theft of batteries, RR units and other electronic devices from mobile towers of Jio and Airtel in Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR region, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Presently he has been caught from Nandgram area. The names of the arrested criminals are Kaif Malik, Sumit Kasana, Rahul Goyal, Sohail, Shuaib and Wasim.
During interrogation, vicious Kaif Malik told that he had left his studies in BA first year 02 years ago and started working with his father Furkan Malik at his junk shop located in Mustafabad, Delhi. There he met Shuaib who asked him to sell RRUs and other electronic devices stolen from mobile towers and also said that there was a profit of lakhs in this work. After finding out in the market, Kaif contacted Javed. When the whole matter of taking and giving the goods was completed, these people together formed a gang. In which Suhail Malik, Wasim, Altaf and Zubair and engineer Rahul Goyal, who does the maintenance of mobile towers, took the stolen goods from them and sent it to Javed of Mustafabad, Delhi and his associates through Kaif Malik, Sumit Kasana, Naeem of Meerut and Mehrajuddin of Delhi. Brother used to sell Wasim.
Sumit Kasana told that he has passed BA. Prepared for police recruitment for 4 years. Then he started working as a bouncer/security in a club in Delhi. He met Javed in the club itself who hired him for scrap work. He has been working for Javed for the last 04 years and delivers goods from one place to another. For which he gets Rs 5-10 thousand separately per round.
Rahul Goyal told that he has done B.Tech from Roorkee. When he did not get placed, he started working in private companies. Presently he is working as a manager in Saar Tele Constructions Pvt. Ltd. for the last 4 years. This company does the maintenance work of mobile towers. For some time now, he has been earning profit by colluding with the operation and maintenance staff of West Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and stealing RRU and giving it to Suhail, Zubair, Wasim, Kaif. Shuaib Malik told that he is 12th passed and he works as a wholesaler of cosmetics in Mustafabad. He knew Suhail and Kaif and on their advice, he started doing the work of buying and selling RRU. Suhail Malik told that he has studied till 12th, earlier he used to do milk work and then started doing scrap work in Mustafabad. It was there that he met him. He met Wasim Alvi, Altaf, Zubair, Shuaib and Kaif who involved him in stealing and selling equipment from mobile towers.
When asked, Wasim Alvi told that he has studied till 12th. His father has a scrap shop in Sorkha, Noida Sector 113. He also started selling scrap. He met Suhail Malik who helped him in the theft of RRUK and other equipment of the mobile tower and a lot of money in it. Told about the benefits.
When asked, all the accused told that for the last few years, there has been a lot of demand in the thieves market for batteries, radio receiver units and other electronic devices of mobile towers. The equipment installed on mobile towers are very expensive and it is very easy to steal them.
