New Delhi, 30 April (Hindustan Times). The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Delhi government while hearing a petition seeking early appointment to the vacant posts of Chairperson and members of the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR). A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan ordered the next hearing of the case on July 16.
Apart from the Delhi Government, the High Court also issued notice to the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights and the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development. The petition has been filed by the National Child Development Council. The petition states that the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights is working without a chairperson from July 02, 2023. Keeping the post of chairperson vacant for such a long time in Delhi Child Rights Protection Commission is a violation of child rights rules.
It has been said in the petition that the website of Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights shows that they are working without a chairperson. It has been said in the petition that after the end of the tenure of the previous chairperson of the Commission, there is a lot of criticism for the poor functioning of the Commission. Under Section 8(2) of Delhi Child Rights Protection Commission, if any post in the Commission becomes vacant for any reason, it will be filled within 90 days. During the hearing, the Delhi government said that the file was sent to the concerned minister on August 1, 2023 for inviting applications for appointment to the vacant posts in the Commission. On March 27, the concerned minister said that the model code of conduct will be implemented for the Lok Sabha elections and said that advertisements for these posts will not be issued. Then the court said that where there is a will, there will be a way. You can guess that nothing has happened since August till now.
