In Ohio, USA, a black man died when policemen tried to subdue him by throwing him on the ground. The incident brought back memories of the death of George Floyd in 2020. An Ohio police department has released body-cam footage of officers detaining a man identified as 53-year-old Frank Tyson. Tyson was accused of being involved in a car accident on April 18. He fled from the spot after the accident.
In 36 minutes of body-cam footage released by an Ohio police department, a patrol officer is seen approaching a car that has crashed into a power pole. An eyewitness told a patrol officer that the car driver was hiding in a nearby inn. The policemen then enter the tavern, where they find Frank Tyson standing at the bar. As a policeman tries to grab Tyson's hand, he starts screaming, 'They're trying to kill me, call the sheriff.'
The policeman pressed his knee on Frank Tyson's neck
After this the policemen threw Frank Tyson on the ground and handcuffed him. Meanwhile, a policeman is seen sitting on Tyson's back and kneeling on his neck to restrain him. Tyson can be heard repeatedly saying, 'I can't breathe.' I…can't turn my neck.' When a policeman yells at him, 'Calm down, you're fine'. After struggling briefly to free himself, Tyson stopped moving. The policemen check on him and can be heard asking, 'Is he breathing?' Does he have a pulse?'
Frank is released from prison after serving 24 years
Policemen are seen opening his handcuffs and giving him CPR. Tyson was taken to a local hospital in Cleveland, where doctors pronounced him dead. The Canton Police Department officers involved in the Frank Tyson case have been identified as Beau Schonage and Camden Burch. Frank was released from prison on April 6 after serving 24 years for kidnapping and theft. This incident reminds of the death of George Floyd. Four years ago, Floyd died in a similar attempt to control police in Minneapolis.
Memories of George Floyd's death become fresh in America
In the George Floyd case, a video also went viral, in which a white police officer named Derek Chauvin was seen kneeling on his neck for more than nine minutes. During this, George Floyd kept begging for his life by saying 'I can't breathe'. After this video went viral, the discussion about whites and blacks broke out in America. Violent demonstrations were held by black citizens of America in many cities of the country. Police officer Derek Chauvin and three of his fellow police officers were later convicted by a court of murder and other crimes.
