Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in the African country Kenya. Many areas of the country have been submerged due to heavy rains. The situation has gone out of control due to flood water. So far 28 people have died. Half of Kenya is now submerged in flood waters. Lakhs of people have been affected by the floods. Roads, streets and people's houses have been flooded. Vehicles on the roads are submerged in water. Rain has had a negative impact on people's lives. People are not getting relief.
Situation worsened in Kenya's capital
Flooding in Kenya's capital Nairobi has blocked roads and submerged many areas. The situation in Nairobi has become very difficult, water is visible everywhere. The government is using all resources in relief and rescue work but the situation is out of control. The Kenya Red Cross Society said it had rescued 18 people in Mathare. These people were stuck in Nairobi due to heavy rains. Efforts are being made to save lives of people in other parts of the country also.
There is no possibility of relief
Parts of two major highways in Nairobi have been submerged in flood waters. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority has also closed four roads due to flooding. The most worrying thing is that meteorologists have predicted rain till June. It has been raining in Kenya since March. But in recent times heavy rains have caused havoc.
Gave advice to people
People living in low-lying areas have been advised to move to higher places after the rains. Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kindiki Kithure warned residents living near the dam, including Masinga in the Eastern Region and Thiba in the Central Region. He has instructed the people living near the dam to move away from there. Kithur said the situation is worsening due to rain and more people may be affected due to floods.
