PF or pension stuck after retirement? Don’t panic, these are the 5 easiest ways to file a complaint sitting at home.

After a lifetime of service, the day of retirement is a moment of peace and financial freedom for every employee. But many times, after completion of job or retirement, when the final settlement of Provident Fund (PF) is not made for months or the monthly pension under EPS-95 stops, then the elderly and their families face a serious financial crisis. Be it the case of Regional Provident Fund Office (RPFC) of Lucknow or any other corner of the country, claims often get stuck in technical glitches due to bank account mismatch, name or date of birth mismatch, incomplete KYC or the employer not giving timely approval. If your PF or pension money is stuck in the EPFO system, then instead of visiting offices, you can get a quick solution to your problem by using the modern digital platforms and official channels of the Government of India.

The official grievance redressal portal of the Employees Provident Fund Organization is ‘EPFiGMS’ (EPF i Grievance Management System – epfigms.gov.in) is the most effective weapon for problems related to PF and pension.

  • How to lodge a complaint: First of all go to the portal and click on ‘Register Grievance’.

  • Select status: Here you have to choose the option of ‘PF Member’ or ‘EPS Pensioner’. Pensioners can login through their PPO number or UAN.

  • OTP Verification: An OTP will come on your registered mobile number, once entered, your entire profile will open on the screen.

  • Complaint Details: Select your category (like Pension Settlement Issue, Claim Delay etc.) and write complete details of the problem in clear words. If you have claim rejection slip, passbook copy or Aadhaar card, upload it in PDF format.

  • As soon as you submit the form, you get a unique ‘Grievance Registration Number’, through which you can track the live status of your complaint anytime. As per rules, EPFO has to take immediate action on this.

If you do not have a computer, you can use the official ‘UMANG’ mobile app of the Central Government in your smartphone. Go to the ‘EPFO Services’ section in the Umang app. There you get the direct option of ‘Register Grievance’ and ‘Track Grievance’. From here pensioners can check the status of their Life Certificate (Digital Life Certificate), see the passbook and can immediately lodge their complaint if pension is not received.

EPFO has significantly strengthened telephonic support for senior citizens who are unaware of the digital process.

  • toll free number: You can directly contact EPFO’s official toll-free helpline number. 14470 You can call at. This multilingual helpline works from morning till night, where you can know the exact reason for delay in claim by telling your UAN or PPO number to the customer care executive and lodge a complaint on call itself.

  • Email Support: If your complaint is not resolved within 15 days of being lodged on the portal, you can directly approach higher authorities. [email protected] You can send an email by writing your grievance number.

  • X (Twitter) handle: On posting your issue on the official social media handle of EPFO (@socialepfo) by tagging your issue, UAN and Grievance ID, the case is immediately escalated to the concerned regional office by the Social Media Cell.

If things are not working out through online means, then EPFO’s ‘Nidhi Aapke Nikat 2.0’ program is the biggest support for you. EPFO organizes special outreach camps in every district of the country on 27th of every month (if 27th is a holiday, then on the next working day). Senior officers of EPFO, regional commissioners and technical team are present in this camp. Pensioners and employees can directly go to this camp with all their necessary documents (Aadhaar, bank passbook, PPO copy). Here the complaints are heard face to face with the officials and in most of the cases the pending claims are cleared on the same day or within 48 to 72 hours.

Before filing a complaint, ensure that there are no basic documents or procedures left incomplete on your part, as in 80% of the cases the delay is due to these small mistakes:

  • Matching of bank account and name: There should be no difference in the spelling of name, father’s name and date of birth in EPFO records and your bank account.

  • Bank account to be active and Aadhaar linked: The bank account in which pension is to be received should be in active status and NPCI mapping should be complete in it.

  • Digital Life Certificate (DLC): It is mandatory for pensioners to submit digital life certificate every year. If it is not renewed on time, the pension automatically stops.

  • Date of Exit from the company: Make sure that your previous company has updated the correct date of exit in your EPF account on the portal. Without this, the claim for final PF settlement cannot be processed.
