Keshav Prasad Maurya, while addressing the Abhidhamma Day Festival organized at Jasarajpur Sankisa, said that Lord Buddha, the Tathagat who gave the immortal message of compassion, kindness, non-violence and peace to the entire humanity, is adorable and worshipable not only in India but in the entire world. He said that Sankisa has a very special, historical and glorious place among the eight major holy pilgrimage sites associated with Lord Buddha on Indian soil. While paying respectful homage to this holy land and its residents, he heartily welcomed and congratulated all the respected guests, worshipers and Buddha followers who had come from India and abroad. On the demand for establishment of Pali Research Institute and Vipassana Meditation Center in Sankisa, he clarified that this is not a matter of demand for the public but it is their natural right. He assured that with the coordination of both Mainpuri and Farrukhabad districts, a well-planned and detailed action plan will be prepared for the overall development of Sankisa. On the auspicious occasion of Abhidhamma Day, I had the privilege of visiting and worshiping the holy Buddhist stupa at Sankisa, a historical Buddhist pilgrimage site located in Farrukhabad district. It is our good wish that the spirit of peace, compassion and mutual respect in the society should be continuously strengthened by taking inspiration from the teachings of Lord Buddha.
He said that the government will go beyond the expectations set by the public for the development of this holy place and will try to implement the work on the ground so that the global identity of Sankisa can be further strengthened. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the country’s famous Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently working as the biggest follower of Tathagata Lord Buddha, he has proved this. He said that while addressing the whole world from the world’s biggest platform, the United Nations, the Prime Minister had proudly said that India has not given war and unrest to the world but has given the entire world the path of peace of Lord Buddha. He expressed great pride in describing himself as belonging to the same lineage that had rulers like the great emperor Ashoka, who spread the welfare ideas of Buddhism not only in India but throughout the world. He said that during that period, Emperor Ashoka’s rule expanded so widely because it was based on the basic spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, today in democratic India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also following the same path and working continuously for the upliftment of every section of the society without any discrimination.
