CBSE Board Exam 2027: If you want to avoid huge late fee of ₹ 2,000, then submit LOC immediately, last date is on your mind.

An extremely important and timely alert has come out for lakhs of students and schools appearing in the class 10th and 12th board examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for the session 2026-27. The Board has given clear instructions to all the affiliated schools to upload the mandatory ‘List of Candidates’ (LOC) for the Board Examination on the official portal within the stipulated time limit. If schools miss the due date, they will have to pay a hefty late fee of Rs 2,000 per student. To avoid this additional financial burden and last-minute technical difficulties, schools have been advised to immediately finalize the data through the Pariksha Sangam portal.

The entire outline of CBSE board examination and the process of issuing admit cards rests on this LOC data. In this, the correct spelling of the students’ name, parents’ name, date of birth, selected subject and specific code of the subjects are recorded. Even the slightest negligence or delay can not only lead to financial penalty for the schools but can also jeopardize the future of the students and the validity of their examination forms. The board has made it clear that no special request will be considered after the expiry of the deadline, hence the only option is to complete the process in time.

Often the question arises in the minds of students and parents that what is LOC i.e. List of Candidates and what is its importance. Actually, regular students of class 10th and 12th do not directly fill the board exam form in person, rather the respective schools prepare the integrated details of all the eligible students from their authorized portal and send it to the board. This official list is called ‘LOC’ in the language of CBSE. The board uses this data to allot roll numbers, determine exam centers and finally release the admit card and original marksheet.

The sensitivity of this process can be gauged from the fact that if a student’s name or subject code is entered incorrectly in the LOC, then there is a huge risk of him/her getting the wrong question paper in the examination hall or getting an error in the result. The board has urged schools as well as parents to check their child’s details very closely before signing the draft data sheet being prepared by the school. Once the data is finally locked on the CBSE server, modifying it becomes extremely complex and fraught with legal procedures.

According to the official notification issued by CBSE, the last date for submitting LOC along with the normal examination fee has been fixed as October 21. Till midnight of 21st October, schools can upload the data of all their eligible students and make online payment of fees without any additional penalty fee. Those schools which will not be able to complete the process by this primary deadline, the board has given an additional opportunity (late-fee window) from October 22 to October 30. However, if the form is submitted during this window, late fee at the rate of Rs 2,000 per student will have to be paid in addition to the normal examination fee.

This window closes even earlier for institutions making payments through challan or offline banking means. The board has also made it clear that the portal will not be opened again after October 30 under any circumstances. If hundreds of students are registered in a school and the form is not filled on time, then the figure of late fees can reach lakhs of rupees, which will have a direct impact on the pockets of the school management and parents. Therefore early submission is the safest strategy to avoid last hour server crashes and network traffic.

The process of LOC submission is completely digital for school management and examination in-charges. First of all the authorized representative of the school will have to visit the official website of CBSE cbse.gov.in. Click on the ‘Pariksha Sangam’ (Pariksha Sangam) portal link given on the homepage. After this, go to the ‘Schools’ section and select ‘Pre-Exam Activities’, where the option of ‘List of Candidates (LOC)’ will appear. The school has to login securely into the portal using its given User ID (Affiliation Number), Password and Security PIN.

After login, the pre-registered list of class 10th and 12th students opens on the portal. The school has to verify each student’s personal information, date of birth, subject combination and compulsory language subjects. Along with this, the latest color digital photograph and signature of the students of prescribed size and resolution has to be uploaded. After filling all the data, a rough draft printout is taken out, which is cross-verified with subject teachers and parents. Only after complete verification, press the ‘Final Submit’ button and download the final confirmation page by paying the examination fee through online payment gateway (Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking or UPI).

CBSE Controller of Examinations has directed schools to take special care to avoid any kind of human error while filling LOC. First of all, the student’s name, father’s name and mother’s name should match letter by letter with the Aadhar card and the original admission register of the school. Any spelling mistake causes huge hindrance in future verification of passport, higher education and government jobs. The second most important point is the selection of the subject code; For example, differences in the code of Standard Mathematics and Basic Mathematics should be examined very carefully.

Thirdly, the selection of practical subjects for class 12 students should be right as there is a separate fee for each practical subject. Fourth, the selection of relaxations and facilities given by the Board for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) is mandatory to be entered on the portal at the time of filling the LOC. The fifth and final point is that schools should ensure that no eligible student’s name is left out, as it becomes impossible to add a new name once the data is finally locked. By completing all the formalities on time, both the students and the school can become stress free and concentrate fully on the preparations for the upcoming board exams.
