A very horrifying and hair-raising incident has come to light in South Korea’s major coastal and industrial city Incheon on Tuesday afternoon. Inside a busy supermarket in the city, an unknown assailant suddenly attacked innocent citizens shopping with a sharp knife. This unexpected and violent attack caused chaos and screams inside the supermarket in the blink of an eye. According to official information given by the local police and emergency health services, a total of 8 people have been seriously injured in this sensational stabbing. The condition of one of the injured victims is said to be extremely critical, having suffered a cardiac arrest on the spot due to the deep shock and excessive bleeding he suffered during the attack. The local police administration took prompt action and arrested the armed suspected attacker from the crime scene itself.
This horrific incident happened when, as usual, a large number of local people had come to the supermarket in Incheon to buy everyday household items. According to eyewitnesses, the suspected attacker suddenly entered the supermarket premises and without any apparent warning or argument, started attacking nearby customers and employees with a sharp knife he had carried hidden in his possession. Due to this sudden bloody attack, the people present inside the shop did not get even a chance to recover. People started running here and there to save their lives, which created a stampede inside the store. As soon as the information was received, local police patrol teams and emergency medical teams immediately reached the spot, blowing sirens. The first aid personnel tried their best to stabilize the seriously injured man who had suffered a heart attack by giving CPR on the spot and immediately admitted him to the nearest trauma center, where a team of specialist doctors is making continuous efforts to save his life. The other seven injured are also being given emergency treatment in different hospitals of the city due to deep wounds on different parts of the body.
A special contingent of police reached the spot, surrounded the supermarket from all sides and overpowered the suspected attacker along with his weapon on the spot and took him into custody. Speaking to news agency Reuters, an official spokesperson of the Incheon Police Department confirmed that the arrested male accused is currently being subjected to rigorous interrogation at an undisclosed location. The investigating officers are trying to find out whether this attack was the result of some old rivalry, was carried out in a state of mental imbalance or whether it was part of a well-planned conspiracy targeting the general public without any prior identification. The police forensic team has collected the knife used in the attack and other evidence from the spot, while the entire sequence of the attack is being reconstructed by scanning the footage of all the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras installed inside the supermarket.
