Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir is known for his outspoken and blunt statements, and this time too he has expressed his views in very clear words, putting an end to any kind of speculations regarding the future of Vaibhav Suryavanshi. When Gautam Gambhir was asked during a press conference what is the team management’s plan regarding a very young and aggressive player like Vaibhav Suryavanshi and whether he can be suddenly dropped from a big stage, Gambhir gave a very mature answer. He said that selection or exclusion of any player in Indian cricket is not a decision taken overnight, rather there is a long process behind it. Gambhir said that we cannot drop any player suddenly, because every player gets a place in the team only on the basis of his hard work, ability and consistent performance in domestic cricket. He also added that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has immense talent, but to face the challenges of modern international cricket, it is most important to be technically and mentally strong.
“The player himself will have to prove his mettle on the field”: Gautam Gambhir’s blunt advice
Gautam Gambhir has given a very important advice to the young players to keep them away from the mindset of climbing to the sky at the very beginning of their career. He made it clear that no player can secure his place at the international level for a long time just by playing a few good innings, but he will have to continuously keep the level of his game high in every match and every series. Gambhir said that young stars like Vaibhav Suryavanshi need to understand that talent is just the beginning, the real test comes in difficult situations and moments of pressure on the field. The coach said that the team management and selectors are always ready to support the young players, but in the end the players themselves have to prove their mettle by scoring runs on the field. It has become clear from his statement that if Vaibhav Suryavanshi wants to make his permanent place in Team India, he will have to bring consistency in his technique and continue to perform well in the domestic and junior circuits, so that he can prove himself even in pressure situations.
Masterplan to strengthen future supervisors and bench strength of Indian cricket
During the tenure of Gautam Gambhir, it has always been emphasized that the method of transmission and grooming of young talent in the Indian cricket team should be very disciplined. The speed with which Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name has emerged on the map of Indian cricket makes it clear that he can become a big asset of the team in the future. However, Gambhir’s statement also underlines that the management does not want to put additional pressure of early success on any young player, so that his natural game is not affected. With the help of the coaching staff and the National Cricket Academy (NCA), close work is being done on the fitness, mental toughness and match awareness of such players. This thinking of Gautam Gambhir is not only an invaluable guidance for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, but it also lays the foundation for a bright future of Indian cricket where every young player gets fair opportunities and a transparent path based on his ability, provided he has the courage to prove himself through his hard work and dedication.
