Mattress Care: Does your mattress smell while you sleep? Just try this trick, without washing the mattress, your problem will go away

Have you suddenly noticed a bad smell coming from your mattress while you sleep? You can neither wash the mattress nor want to buy a new one because of the smell? So some easy things present in the house can be useful for you. Sweat, body oil, dust, dead skin and moisture accumulate on the mattress with continuous use. This increases the likelihood of the mattress developing a bad odor over time. However, with some easy steps you can keep your mattress fresh even without washing it.

First clean the mattress with a vacuum cleaner

Due to continuous use of the mattress, dust, hair, sweat and small particles of skin accumulate. Gradually this causes bad smell in the mattress. Before removing odors, thoroughly clean the entire mattress with a vacuum cleaner.

Dry the mattress in bright sunlight for a few hours

To reduce the odor of the mattress, you can keep it in the sun for a few hours. Sunlight helps reduce excess moisture present in the mattress. Turn the mattress halfway so that both sides dry thoroughly.

Baking soda can be useful

Sprinkle baking soda lightly on the mattress and leave it for about 6 to 8 hours. This will help absorb moisture and odor from the mattress. Then clean the mattress with a vacuum cleaner to completely remove the baking soda.

a light splash of vinegar

Prepare the mixture by mixing equal amounts of white vinegar and water. Do not apply too much of this mixture on the mattress, but only spray it lightly on the smelly area. Then, let the mattress dry completely and allow the vinegar smell to completely disappear before using it.

Keep bedsheets and pillow covers clean

Sometimes the mattress is not the only cause of bad smell. Sweat and dust deposited on sheets, pillowcases and mattress covers can also cause odor. Therefore it is important to wash these things regularly.

use a mattress protector

Applying a mattress protector to your mattress prevents sweat, dust, stains or water from directly reaching the mattress. The protector can be removed and washed, so it’s also easier to keep the mattress clean.

Do not allow moisture to accumulate on the mattress

If water, tea or any other liquid spills on your mattress, clean it immediately. If the mattress remains wet, it can smell and even grow mold. Therefore, dry the mattress thoroughly before using it.
