
Lucknow, 19 September. Yogi government is encouraging beekeeping to connect farmers and youth with self-employment and increase their income. This initiative of the Horticulture Department is creating new employment opportunities in rural areas and providing additional source of income to the farmers.

There are 15 candidates in Basti Horticultural Experiment and Training Centre, 29 in Saharanpur Horticultural Experiment and Training Center and 32 candidates in Government Silence Training Center Prayagraj. The training will continue till December 15. Its objective is to make candidates successful entrepreneurs by making them proficient in modern technologies.
Horticulture Director Bhanu Prakash Ram said that under the beekeeping program run by the department, a grant of up to 40 percent on the unit cost is being provided to the beneficiaries to make them self-reliant. Under this scheme, each beneficiary is provided a complete unit of 50 colonies (bee colonies), bee houses (boxes), which also includes all the supporting equipment required for honey extraction and maintenance.
With this initiative of the state government, new employment opportunities are being created in rural areas. Through this financial assistance and technical guidance being provided by the department, farmers will not only be able to earn better profits by producing honey and by-products, but the productivity of crops will also get a new boost by increasing the pollination process.
