Hawkins Cookers Ltd, a company that has been the first choice of every Indian household for the last six and a half decades in the world of kitchen utensils and especially pressure cookers, has now brought a big opportunity for common investors to earn profits. This prestigious kitchenware company, which has been manufacturing cookers in India since 1959 and has sold more than 14 crore units till now, is going to launch its new fixed deposit (Corporate FD) scheme from 16 September 2026. While in big commercial banks like State Bank of India (SBI), PNB and HDFC, the interest rates on 3 year FD are limited to around 6.50% to 7.10%, Hawkins Cookers is offering investors an attractive annual interest of up to 8 percent under this scheme. This public deposit program of the company will start from 9:30 am on September 16 and it will be accepted on ‘First-Come, First-Served’ basis. There is a huge buzz about this scheme among retail investors and senior citizens from Lucknow, Kanpur, Noida, Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and across the country.
Hawkins Cookers has designed its unsecured fixed deposit scheme for three different tenures—13 months, 24 months and 36 months. The minimum investment amount in this scheme has been fixed at ₹25,000. After this any investor can deposit additional amount in multiples of ₹1,000. Under new or renewal deposit, a person can invest a maximum of ₹ 50 lakh.
As per the official circular issued by the company, the complete details of interest rates and maturity amount on minimum investment of ₹25,000 are as follows:
| Tenure | Annual Interest Rate (PA) | minimum investment | Amount received on maturity (cumulative) |
| 13 months | 7.50% | ₹25,000 | ₹27,109 |
| 24 months (2 years) | 7.75% | ₹25,000 | ₹29,177 |
| 36 months (3 years) | 8.00% | ₹25,000 | ₹31,756 |
It is clear from this table that if an investor invests an amount of ₹ 1 lakh for 36 months (3 years), then at the rate of 8% he will get approximately ₹ 1,27,024 on maturity. On an investment of ₹5 lakh, this amount will increase to around ₹6,35,120 in 3 years.
The company has provided two types of options keeping in mind the different financial needs of investors:
-
Cumulative Scheme: This option is best for those who want compounding growth on their money. In this, interest is added every month (Monthly Compounding) and the entire principal amount along with interest is received in lump sum only on completion of maturity period. Due to monthly compounding, the effective annual return is higher than the normal rate of 8%.
-
Non-Cumulative Scheme: This option is suitable for retired employees or investors who want regular cash flow for their expenses. In this option, interest payment is transferred directly to the investor’s bank account every 6 months (Half-Yearly Basis) through ECS, NEFT or RTGS.
Security and credit rating are the most important parameters before investing in corporate fixed deposits. This unsecured FD of Hawkins Cookers has been approved by leading credit rating agency ICRA. [ICRA] AA-(Stable) Rating provided. In financial definition, this rating is considered to mean ‘high credit quality’ and ‘very low credit risk’. The track record of the company over the last several decades has been impeccable. Hawkins has clarified in its circular that it has no history of any kind of default in payment of banks, financial institutions or statutory dues.
However, investors should always keep in mind the basic difference that it is an ‘unsecured corporate deposit’. While bank FDs come with government insurance guarantee up to ₹5 lakh under the DICGC rules of RBI, there is no such government protection on corporate FDs. Therefore, the company’s financial position, brand value and credit rating are the main basis for capital security.
If we compare the current 3-year FD rates of top banks in the country, Hawkins Cookers has the upper hand in terms of returns:
-
SBI/PNB/BoB: On 3 year FD, interest is being given at 6.50% to 6.75% to general citizens and 7.00% to 7.25% to senior citizens.
-
HDFC Bank / ICICI Bank: Interest of 7.00% is being offered for a period of 3 years.
-
Hawkins Cookers FD: It is offering 8.00% flat interest on 36 months for both general and senior citizens, which is 1% to 1.50% more than big government and private banks.
However, it is also worth noting that in the year 2019, Hawkins had given an annual interest of 10.50% on its 3 year FD. This time due to the fall in interest rates in the current cycle, the company has reduced it to 8%, but even in the current market scenario, the return of 8% is considered much better than many traditional options.
Hawkins Cookers plans to raise a total of ₹129.92 crore capital through this fixed deposit scheme. Of this, ₹37.12 crore will be raised from the existing members/shareholders of the company and ₹92.80 crore will be raised from the general public. The company already had deposits of ₹27.30 crore as of July 29, 2026. The company has said that this fund will be used for working capital, Research and Development (R&D), expansion of manufacturing capacity and to meet future contingent needs.
If we look at the financial health of the company, the net profit after tax (PAT) of Hawkins Cookers has increased to a strong level of ₹ 131 crore in the financial year 2025-26. However, cash flow from operations has declined from ₹174 crore in FY2024 to ₹88 crore in FY2026. Overall, the company operates with a strong balance sheet with zero-debt or minimal debt.
These three rules should not be ignored while investing in corporate FD:
-
Tax as per tax slab: The interest received from Hawkins FD is fully taxable. This will be added to your ‘Income from Other Sources’ and taxed as per your applicable income tax slab (e.g. 10%, 20% or 30%).
-
TDS limit: While in bank FDs, TDS is deducted if the interest exceeds ₹ 40,000 (₹ 50,000 for senior citizens), in corporate FDs, under Section 194A of the Income Tax Act, TDS is deducted at the rate of 10% as soon as the total interest in the financial year exceeds ₹ 5,000. If your total income is less than the tax exemption limit, you can avoid TDS by submitting Form 15G (Form 15H for senior citizens).
-
Premature Withdrawal: Under the Companies (Acceptance of Deposits) Rules, no withdrawal is permitted for the first 6 months (six month lock-in). If money is withdrawn after 6 months and before maturity, interest rates can be reduced by 1% to 2%.
Since the company has to raise only ₹92.80 crore from the public, the quota is likely to be filled very quickly. Interested investors can apply directly through online mode sitting at home:

However, maintain the discipline of investing only 10 to 15 percent of your entire investment portfolio in corporate FDs.
