PLFI zonal commander arrested along with 3 associates in Gumla

Continuous operations are being conducted by the security forces and local police to root out the roots of Left Wing Extremism and Naxalite violence from various states of the country. In this series, a very big and sensational news has come out from Gumla district of Jharkhand state, which has broken the back of Naxalite organizations. A notorious zonal commander of the banned militant organization People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) has been arrested along with three of his other associates during a joint operation between Gumla district police and security forces. The police was searching for this dangerous Naxalite commander for a long time, who was mainly involved in many criminal incidents, levy collection and incidents of violence. After this arrest, the security system of the area has heaved a sigh of relief, while there has been a panic among the extremist organizations.

According to the official information received from the office of the Superintendent of Police, the Intelligence Department was receiving secret information for the last few days that a large squad of PLFI was roaming in the remote and forested areas of Gumla district with the intention of carrying out some major criminal incident. Taking this information seriously, special teams of the District Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jharkhand Jaguar together prepared the outline of a joint and confidential operation. Security forces started laying siege to the suspected hideouts and when the Naxalites got wind of this, they tried to escape, but alert soldiers surrounded them from all sides and caught a total of four people, including the zonal commander, red handed. During the arrest, the security forces showed complete prudence to deal with any untoward situation, due to which the militants did not get any chance to escape and they were caught by the police along with their weapons.

The material recovered by the security forces from these Naxalites who were arrested during the search operation is a strong proof that they were preparing for some big orgy. The police have recovered many sophisticated weapons, country-made pistols, live cartridges, Naxalite literature, money collected as levy and several mobile phones from them, which they used to create fear among businessmen, contractors and common citizens. Preliminary inquiry has revealed that this zonal commander had been a headache for the police in Gumla and surrounding districts for the last several years. He used to demand extortion from the contractors engaged in development works and if they did not agree, he would set the machines on fire. It has become clear from the recovery of these weapons that if the police had not taken this action in time, they could have completely destroyed the peace and order of the area by committing a major violent incident.

After this major action in Gumla, senior officers of Jharkhand Police held a press conference and gave information about the entire operation and praised the success of the soldiers. Officials clarified that the main objective of the state government and police administration is to make Jharkhand completely Naxal free. The law will continue to tighten its grip against those who have deviated from the mainstream of society and chosen the path of violence and crime. Local people and businessmen have also expressed satisfaction over the promptness of the police and expressed hope that after this arrest, the atmosphere of fear in the area will end and development works will gain momentum without any hindrance. The police are now thoroughly interrogating these arrested militants so that their entire network, their funders and their other hidden hideouts can be exposed as soon as possible.
