Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh has once again been shaken by the sound of bullets. Haryanvi music industry’s rising star, actor and singer Ankit Baliyan was brutally murdered by unknown miscreants by firing bullets in public. After this horrific incident, an atmosphere of panic and tension has spread in the entire area. As soon as the sound of bullets was heard, there was a stampede in the surrounding area and people started running here and there to save their lives.
Ankit Balyan had gained immense popularity in Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR on the basis of his songs and acting. As soon as the news of his sudden departure from this world was received, there has been deep mourning in the music industry and his fans. His fans are continuously pleading for justice on social media.
The attackers sitting in ambush fired rapid bullets
According to eyewitnesses and initial information, when Ankit Baliyan was going towards his destination, he was surrounded by armed assailants who were already in ambush. The attackers started firing at them with automatic weapons from very close range without any conversation or warning.
Ankit did not get any chance to recover or run away. Due to multiple bullet wounds in his body, he bled to death and collapsed on the spot. After committing the crime, the attackers easily fled from the spot waving their weapons. Local people immediately informed the police and seriously injured Ankit was taken to the nearest health center, where doctors declared him dead.
Area converted into police cantonment, forensic team collected evidence
As soon as information about the incident was received, senior police officers of the district reached the spot with heavy police force and PAC. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, the entire area has been sealed and intensive checking campaign has been started at every major intersection and border points.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and dog squad have collected empty cartridge cases, blood samples and other important physical evidence from the spot. Police are scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in nearby shops, houses and main roads, so that they can get accurate clues about the direction of escape of the attackers and their identity.
Old rivalry or mutual dispute: Teams engaged in investigation from all angles
Shamli police has filled the Panchnama of the body and sent it for post-mortem and has started investigating the main reasons behind the murder. The police are looking at this matter by linking it to many different aspects including mutual enmity, property dispute, local factionalism and professional rivalry.
Ankit’s family and close friends are being questioned whether he had received any threat from anyone in recent times or whether he was having any dispute with anyone. Police officials say that based on the complaint of the family members, a case has been registered under relevant sections and no culprit will be spared.
Several special teams formed to arrest the attackers
Senior officials of the district said that several special teams of Crime Branch, SOG (Special Operations Group) and local police have been formed for quick investigation of the case. Suspicious vehicles are being searched by issuing alerts in the neighboring districts of Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat and Haryana border.
The administration has increased additional police patrolling in the area to maintain law and order and has appealed to the general public to maintain peace and not spread any kind of rumor on social media.
