Educational Qualification and Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification: It is mandatory to have Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any recognized university or institute.

Desirable Qualification: Candidates having diploma or degree in Law, Management, Company Law, Labor Laws or Public Administration will be given preference in selection.
Age Limit and Relaxation

Maximum Age Limit: Maximum age for General (UR) and EWS category candidates 35 years has been determined (as per cut-off date 11 September 2026).

Exemption to reserved categories:

3 years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC category candidates.

Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST category candidates.

EPFO and central employees get 5 years relaxation as per rules.

There is a provision for relaxation of up to 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) candidates.

Pay Scale
Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner (APFC) post in 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) pay matrix level 10 Comes under. Under this, selected officers are given attractive basic pay along with DA, HRA, transport allowance and other central government benefits.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
A two-stage process is followed by UPSC for APFC recruitment:

Recruitment Test (RT): Multiple choice (Objective Type) written examination will be conducted in offline (Pen & Paper) mode. In this, questions are asked from subjects like General English, Indian Freedom Struggle, Indian Politics and Economy, General Accounting Principles, Industrial Relations and Labor Law, Social Security and General Science and Computer.

Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination will be shortlisted for interview.

Weightage: The combined weightage of written test (RT) and interview is added in the final merit list based on the prescribed formula (usually 75:25).
