A relief and very important news has come to light for lakhs of teacher candidates preparing to become lecturers (PGT) in non-government aided secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Services Selection Board (UPSESSB) has activated the official ‘Application Correction Window’ to correct human errors in the online application forms of UP PGT Recruitment 2026. Often, due to haste, carelessness of cyber café or lack of technical understanding, candidates make mistakes in name spelling, date of birth, reservation category, marks percentage or subject selection, the consequences of which later have to be suffered in the form of cancellation of candidature at the time of document verification. The Selection Board has given a last opportunity to all such registered candidates to re-review their details and make necessary amendments.

In competitive exams, even a small clerical error can spoil years of hard work. In a prestigious and fiercely competitive teacher recruitment like UP PGT, every single detail from the merit list to the final appointment is matched with the original certificates. In such a situation, if any information in your online application form is not matching with the high school mark sheet, degree or reservation certificate, then it is mandatory to make the correction within this stipulated time limit given by the selection board. Any offline representation or individual request after the closure of the correction window will not be considered by the Board.

As per the selection board guidelines, changes are allowed only in certain specific fields keeping in mind the security and data integrity. The details in which candidates can make modifications mainly include the following points:

1. Educational Qualification Details: Errors in Graduation and Post Graduation marks, integers, passing year, name of the board/university and percentage can be corrected.

2. Reservation category and sub-category: Reforms can be made in EWS, Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) or special reservations like Disabled (PwD), Dependents of Freedom Fighters (DFF) and Ex-Servicemen.

3. Gender and marital status: If there is any error in male/female category or marital status while filling the form, it can be corrected.

4. Correspondence and Permanent Address: Discrepancies related to address details, pin code and home district can be corrected.

5. Re-upload of photo and signature: If the previously uploaded photo is blurry, not as per the prescribed size/background or the signature is not clearly visible, there is an opportunity to upload a fresh and clear document.

The Selection Board has clarified that the original identity and key registration information has been completely ‘frozen’ to prevent any kind of fraud or attempt to change the identity. Candidates will not be able to make basic changes in their original name, father’s name, mother’s name and registered mobile number and e-mail ID, because the initial one-time registration (OTR) and fee payment was completed on the basis of these details.

Additionally, if a candidate has selected a completely wrong subject, the limits on change may be limited depending on the rules. In case of change in reservation category, if the change is made from a reserved category to an unreserved (General) category, the candidate may have to pay the difference in additional application fee between the two categories online. However, if one moves from general category to reserved category, the extra difference in fee is not refunded.

The process of making corrections in the application form has been made completely online and accessible for the convenience of the candidates:

1. Visit the official website: First of all go to the official portal of the selection board.

2. Enter login credentials: Click on the link ‘UP PGT 2026 Application Correction Window’ available on the homepage. Login by entering your registration number, password/date of birth and captcha code shown on the screen.

3. OTP Verification: For security reasons, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number and e-mail ID, which will have to be entered and verified on the screen.

4. Select edit option: After login, your complete application form will be visible in front of you. Fill the correct information by clicking on the ‘Edit/Modify’ button given in the section or field where there is an error.

5. Re-upload documents (if necessary): If there was a problem with the photo or signature, upload a new file as per the prescribed JPG/JPEG size and dimensions.

6. Final Submit and Printout: Check all changes carefully once again. Once satisfied, click on ‘Final Submit’. Take a printout of the updated confirmation page generated after modification and keep it safe for future reference.

Candidates should pay special attention to some technical precautions while making corrections in the form. Always complete the correction process from a desktop, laptop or cyber café with high-speed internet; While editing the form from mobile phone, there may be technical interruption in dropdown menu or file upload.

Keep in mind that the selection board usually gives ‘single correction chance’. This means that once the revised form is finally submitted, you will not get a chance to make changes again. Therefore, before pressing the final submit button, match each column, spelling and number verbatim with your original marksheet.
