The wait for lakhs of candidates appearing in the UGC NET (UGC NET June 2026) examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) is soon going to end. There is immense curiosity among the students about the results of this examination which determines the eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities and colleges across the country. After the completion of the process of Answer Key (Provisional Answer Key) by the National Testing Agency, now the scorecard is expected to be released on the official portal very soon.
Official website and process to view results
The biggest question in the minds of the candidates is where and how they can check their result and scorecard. As per the rules of NTA, one should use only the official website instead of trusting any other fake or social media links. To check the result of UGC NET, you have to visit the official portal of National Testing Agency, ugcnet.nta.nic.in. You can enter your credentials by clicking on the ‘UGC NET June 2026 Result’ link activated on the homepage. To login, you will have to enter your application number, date of birth and security pin or captcha given on the screen. After this your detailed scorecard will appear on your screen, which you can easily download.
What information will be available in the scorecard?
When candidates download their UGC NET scorecard, it will contain many important details. In this scorecard, the candidate’s name, roll number, application number, parents’ name, subject of the examination, different marks obtained in both the papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), total marks, percentile score and most importantly, your qualification or qualifying status (Qualified for JRF & Assistant Professor or Assistant Professor Only) will be clearly written. Students are advised to carefully check all the information printed in the result after downloading it so that they do not face any inconvenience in future.
Rules for Cut-Off Marks and Passing Criteria
Some minimum qualifying marks have been fixed by NTA to pass the UGC NET exam. Unreserved i.e. General and EWS category candidates have to obtain at least 40% aggregate marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 taken together. At the same time, for candidates of other reserved categories such as OBC-NCL, SC, ST, Divyang (PwD) and third gender, this minimum eligibility marks has been fixed at 35%. However, merely securing the minimum marks does not guarantee selection, as the final merit list and cut-off is prepared based on the overall performance of the candidates in that particular subject and the rules of NTA.
Further process and importance of e-certificate
After the declaration of the result, further paths open for the successful candidates. Candidates who qualify only for Assistant Professor become eligible to apply for Assistant Professor posts in universities across the country and their certificate is valid for life. Students who are selected for JRF are eligible for admission to PhD along with fellowship, and their award letter remains valid for 3 years from the date of release of result. Digital e-certificates and JRF award letters of successful candidates are made available by NTA on the ecertificate.nta.ac.in portal within a few weeks of the completion of the examination.
