These days, a big claim regarding Arunachal Pradesh is going viral on social media, in which it is being said that the Chinese Army (PLA) has penetrated 60 kilometers inside the Indian border. Now the country’s senior leader and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has come forward and strongly refuted all these fabricated and misleading news. He has appealed to the public and media not to share such sensational news without verification, as it affects the morale of the soldiers deployed for the security of the country.
Lack of demarcation creates confusion
During a conversation with the agency, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju made it clear that those who are claiming that China has come within 60 kilometers are completely wrong and misleading. He admitted that there are definitely problems in the border areas, but the main reason for this is that there has not been proper and clear demarcation of the international border in that area between India and China.
Rijiju said that the concerns of the local villagers living on the border are justified as both sides have different claims regarding land rights. The Indian side believes that our borders extend far beyond, whereas the local people and Tibetan communities living on the Chinese side also claim their land deep inside. Under no circumstances should this be seen as the capture of an Indian village by the Chinese Army.
The morale of soldiers falls due to misleading videos and pictures.
Expressing strong objection, the Union Minister said that some people try to prove that the Chinese army has entered Arunachal by sharing old or unauthenticated pictures and videos of Bangladesh and other places on social media. Spreading such false and sensational rumors creates unnecessary confusion within the country and above all, demoralizes our Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel deployed in remote areas.
Indian border security and patrolling strengthened
The government has not shown any laxity regarding the sovereignty and security of the country. The Union Minister assured that the Indian Army and ITBP have greatly increased their vigil and patrolling in the border areas. The Indian government is fully prepared to deal with every situation. Diplomatic and strategic focus on this border region has further increased after the government recently formally recognized 27 places and geographical features of Arunachal Pradesh with their original and standard names on the official maps of Survey of India.
