Lucknow, August 16: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Bharat Ratna former Prime Minister Rev. Atal Bihari Vajpayee carried forward clean and honest politics in Indian politics. For him, politics was not just a medium to attain power, but a path of service, dedication, values and ideals. This is the reason that no matter which party or party people belonged to, everyone praised Atal ji openly. For Atal ji, ‘Nation First’ was not just an idea but the basis of his public life. When it came to the national interest, he took decisions in favor of the nation, disregarding the interests of the party.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was addressing the tribute meeting and literature evening organized on the eighth death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Pt. Atal Bihari Vajpayee Convention Centre. Paying tribute to the memories of Atal ji, he paid tribute to him on behalf of the people of the state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released a booklet based on the thoughts of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He said that the world has seen his strong will in the Kargil war. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Atal ji was realized by abolishing Article 370 in Kashmir. The first medical university of the state was built in the name of Atal ji in Lucknow and now a medical college is being built on a war footing in Balrampur.
The Chief Minister said that today, when questions are raised on Congress’s indecent and rude conduct regarding Operation Sindoor and pointing fingers at the Army, then its patriotism also begins to be doubted. The whole world was watching when Pakistan was pleading in America and begging for its life with its tail pressed.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that today parties and alliances are formed and broken. When momentary selfishness is not achieved, people become bent upon tearing apart the entire fabric, but revered Atal ji set an example of keeping the national interest supreme not once but many times. He said that during the India-Pakistan war in 1971, the unity of the entire country should have been seen against Pakistan’s inhuman atrocities in Bangladesh. At that time Atal Bihari Vajpayee came forward and supported the entire campaign of Bangladesh liberation.
Even during the Emergency, Atal ji considered the country more important than the party.
The Chief Minister said that even during the Emergency, Atal ji considered the country more important than the party. He merged Bharatiya Jana Sangh with Janata Party and played an important role in reviving democracy in the country. If any party played the most important role in the movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan, it was the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Jan Sangh participated enthusiastically in that entire campaign. Whenever the country needed, Atal ji kept the national interest paramount. After 1989, when India’s economic condition was shaky, the question was who would represent India and strongly advocate for the country in the world forums. Atal ji was given this responsibility as the leader of opposition. He was asked that the job of the opposition is to make allegations and counter allegations against the ruling party, in such a situation how will you represent India? On this, Atal ji said, “This will be an issue related to my country. Whatever is in the interest of India on the global stage, I will say the same thing there.”
Respected Atal ji did the work of taking forward coordination politics.
He said that revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while representing India on world forums even as the Leader of Opposition, kept the national interest paramount and expressed his views while protecting India’s interests. The 1990s were very important for Indian politics. This was a period of political instability. Political instability is a major threat to democracy and the biggest obstacle to good governance. After 1989, consecutive elections were held in 1991, then in 1996, 1998 and 1999. Revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee did the work of converting this political instability into stability and taking forward coordination politics.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided to celebrate Atal ji’s birth anniversary on December 25 as ‘Good Governance Day’. Atal ji was the Prime Minister of India thrice, earlier he was also the Foreign Minister and gave successful leadership to the country with his impeccable image.
He said that during the Kargil war, it was said about Atal ji that he is a poet at heart, he is easy-going and simple, will he be able to fight the war? But Atal ji demonstrated his strong will during the Kargil war and made India proud in the world. At that time the President of America used to repeatedly say that come to America once, India and Pakistan should together find a solution. On this, Atal ji had clearly said, “I cannot leave India as long as even a single enemy remains on Indian soil, within the borders of India.”
He said how Pakistan used to beg for its life with its tail pressed. The world has seen that there was pleading inside America. During the Kargil war, the country also saw the demonstration of Atal ji’s strong will. Atal ji made important contributions in the areas of how the infrastructure should be in the country, what other plans should be and what should be done to strengthen the rural economy. Atal ji started his public life with Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. There was a movement in Kashmir to abolish Article 370 and the permit system. Today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the dream of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and respected Atal ji has been realized by freeing Kashmir from Article 370.
Atal ji’s thoughts are still relevant today
He said that Atal ji’s thoughts are relevant even today. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttar Pradesh government has created a living memorial of Atal ji’s memory as ‘Rashtra Prerna Sthal’ in the same Lucknow which elected Atal ji as MP five times. The first medical university of the state has been established in Lucknow in the name of revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee. All the medical colleges of the state are affiliated with it. Atal ji’s ancestral village is in Bateshwar of Agra district. The construction work of the museum and memorial along with his grand statue has been completed there.
Atal ji has been famous not only as a politician but also as a poet, writer and litterateur. Well-known poet Ashok Chakradhar and famous singer Malini Awasthi are present in the program organized on his death anniversary. While congratulating both of them, he paid tribute to the memories of Atal ji.
He said that there are two such occasions in a year when Atal ji is remembered on a large scale. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak is continuously taking these programs forward through the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Foundation. Today such scenes are seen that people forget even their families, such news also comes to the fore.
