1. Do not dig the land, plow and cut trees and plants: On the holy day of Nag Panchami, digging the earth, plowing or digging soil for gardening is considered completely prohibited. There is a religious belief that beneath the soil there may be a natural habitat or burrow for snakes and other creatures. Digging can inadvertently injure them, leading to blame.

2. Do not put an iron pan or pan on the stove: According to many regions and folk beliefs, baking rotis on iron pan or offering tawa in the kitchen is prohibited on the day of Nag Panchami. 5. Do not consume Tamasic food, alcohol and abusive words: On the day of Nag Panchami, one should not consume garlic, onion, meat, fish or alcohol at home. On this day, troubling any animal, creating discord in the house or abusing anyone destroys the virtuous results of worship.
