Indian Overseas Bank Recruitment 2026: Bumper government job for 250 posts of Local Bank Officer in IOB

Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a leading public sector bank under the Government of India, has released the official notification for the recruitment of 250 posts of Local Bank Officer (LBO). Eligible and interested candidates are applying online for this recruitment under Junior Management Grade Scale-1 (JMGS-I) cadre from 8 August 2026. IOB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026: Key Dates and Deadline

According to the official notification released by Indian Overseas Bank, the time table of this recruitment has been decided. Eligible candidates can complete their application process by visiting the official website of the bank, paying special attention to the dates:

  • Date of release of notification: 7 August 2026

  • Starting date of online application: 8 August 2026

  • Last date to apply online: 24 August 2026

  • Last date for application fee payment: 24 August 2026

  • Tentative Date of Online Written Examination: Will be announced by the bank soon

State wise vacancy details and requirement of local language

Under IOB Recruitment 2026, a total of 250 Local Bank Officer posts have been divided across 4 major states of the country. It is mandatory for the applicant to have knowledge of the local/regional language of the state for which he/she is applying:

  • Tamil Nadu: 100 Posts (Compulsory Language: Tamil)

  • Karnataka: 50 Posts (Compulsory Language: Kannada)

  • Maharashtra: 50 Posts (Compulsory Language: Marathi)

  • Gujarat: 50 Posts (Compulsory Language: Gujarati)

If seen category wise, out of total 250 seats, 94 posts have been reserved for Unreserved (UR) category, 80 posts for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 36 posts for Scheduled Caste (SC), 22 posts for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and 18 posts for Scheduled Tribe (ST). Candidates can submit their application for any one state only.

Complete mathematics of educational qualification and age limit

To participate in this recruitment process, the applicant must have a graduation degree in any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce etc.) from any university recognized by the Central or State Government. Candidates must have graduation pass mark sheet or degree certificate by the date of online registration.

The age limit will be calculated as on 1 August 2026. The minimum age of the candidate should be 20 years and maximum age should be 30 years (i.e. the candidate should not be born before 2 August 1996 and after 1 August 2006). Applicants belonging to reserved categories will be given relaxation in upper age limit as per rules: SC/ST category will get 5 years relaxation, OBC (non-creamy layer) will get 3 years relaxation and Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) will get 10 years relaxation.

Selection Process: Final merit will be decided in three stages

To be selected for the post of Local Bank Officer, candidates will have to go through three major stages:

  1. Online Written Test (CBT): In the online examination of 200 marks, questions will be asked from Reasoning and Computer Aptitude (60 marks), General/Economy/Banking Awareness (40 marks), Data Analysis and Interpretation (60 marks) and English Language (40 marks). The total duration of the exam will be 3 hours.

  2. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT): Candidates who have not studied the local language of the respective state in class 10th or 12th will have to clear the language proficiency test.

  3. Personal Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination and succeed in the language test will be invited for interview.

Pay scale and government allowances

Selected candidates will be appointed under Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). The starting basic pay of IOB LBO has been fixed at ₹48,480 per month. Along with this, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), leased accommodation facility, City Compensatory Allowance and medical facilities, the total salary comes to approximately ₹ 85,920 per month.

Application fee and easy way to apply

The application fee for General, OBC and EWS category candidates has been kept at ₹ 850. Whereas for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Disabled (PwBD) candidates the fee has been fixed at only ₹ 175 (intimation charge). Fee can be paid online through Debit Card, Credit Card, UPI or Net Banking.
