Azim Premji Scholarship 2026: What is the scheme and how much assistance will be given?

This scholarship program run by Azim Premji Foundation is a revolutionary step taken to promote girl education in the country and reduce the drop-out rate of girls in higher education. Each eligible girl student selected under this scheme is provided financial assistance of ₹30,000 annually for the entire duration of her higher education.

• Annual Scholarship: ₹30,000 per year.

• Course Duration: Assistance will be provided for Undergraduate (UG) degree or diploma courses ranging from 2 years to 5 years.

• Total Financial Aid: If a student is pursuing a 3-year graduation degree course, she will get a total amount of ₹90,000, while for a 5-year professional/integrated course (like BA LLB, B.Tech etc.), the total assistance amount will be up to ₹1,50,000.

• Mode of Payment: The scholarship amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary student without any middleman through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

• Freedom of Use: The scholarship amount received can be used by girl students to meet their college tuition fees, books, hostel expenses or any personal expenses related to studies.

• Free Application: No application fee or processing fee is charged by the Foundation at any stage for this entire application process.

Which girl students are eligible? Know the complete eligibility conditions

The eligibility criteria for Azim Premji Scholarship 2026 have been kept very simple and accessible, so that more and more needy girls can avail it. The most special thing about this scheme is that it is not limited on the basis of any caste, religion, family income or only on the basis of board exam marks (merit).

• education background: The student must have passed her 10th and 12th examination as a regular student from a recognized government school or government college.

• College Admission: Must have taken regular admission in the first year of Undergraduate (UG) degree or diploma course in a recognized government or private university/college in the session 2026-27.

• Eligible States and Union Territories: This scholarship scheme is applicable in 18 states and union territories of the country, which include Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Delhi (NCT), Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Odisha, Telangana, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim and Puducherry.

• Ineligibility Conditions: Girl students who are studying through Open/Distance Learning or who are already in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year will not be eligible as fresh applicants. Apart from this, girl students getting other scholarships of Azim Premji University or Wipro will remain out of its scope.

What documents are required for application?

While filling the online form, candidates will have to upload digital copies of some important documents. Keep in mind that all the documents should be uploaded clearly and in the specified size only.

• Recent passport size photograph and signature of the applicant student.

• Aadhar Card (as identity card).

• 10th class mark sheet and passing certificate.

• 12th class mark sheet and passing certificate.

• Proof of current college/university admission (fee receipt or bonafide certificate).

• Bank account details (copy of first page of passbook or canceled cheque).

• Note that all the documents to be uploaded should be in PDF, PNG or JPG format only, whose size should be between 30 KB to 500 KB.

2. Click on the link ‘Register New Applicants Cohort 2026’ under the ‘Azim Premji Scholarship’ section given on the homepage.

3. Enter your current mobile number and verify through OTP.

4. Complete the registration on the portal by creating your user ID and strong password.

5. Now login with your ID and password and fill all the personal, educational and bank related information asked in the application form correctly.

6. Scan and upload all the required documents in the prescribed format and size.

7. Re-check the form thoroughly and complete the application process by clicking on the ‘Submit’ button.

8. Take a printout of the filled application form and keep it safe for future reference.
