Alpha Box Office Day 14: Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’ suffers a major setback at the box office, makers disappointed after completing two weeks Alpha Box Office Day 14: Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’ suffers a major setback at the box office, makers disappointed after completing two weeks

There was huge enthusiasm among the audience and critics about the most awaited spy thriller film ‘Alpha’ starring two powerful Bollywood actresses – Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the lead roles. Being part of Yash Raj Films’ (YRF) much-hyped spy universe, the mega-budget film was expected by trade pundits to deliver a blockbuster performance. However, after its big screen release on July 3, 2026, the film is completely failing to live up to the expectations at the box office. The ongoing tough competition at the box office and the stellar performance of other big films have completely put a brake on the earning speed of ‘Alpha’, due to which disappointment is clearly visible on the faces of the makers.

‘Alpha’ roared in two weeks: Heavy decline recorded in the second week

Despite having a great star cast and great action sequences, ‘Alpha’ seems to be struggling to draw the audience to the theatres. The film had a satisfactory opening with Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day and made a business of Rs 47.45 crore in the first week. But in the second week the box office collection of the film has fallen rapidly. According to the latest data from trade website Sacnilk, on the 14th day of release (Thursday), the film collected only Rs 0.60 crore across the country. In the second week, the film could only add Rs 8.95 crore to the total, due to which the total net box office collection of ‘Alpha’ in India has come down to a disappointing figure of Rs 56.40 crore after two weeks.

The main figures of the film’s day-to-day and week-to-week falling earnings are as follows:

  • Week 1: Rs 47.45 crore

  • Second week (Week 2): Rs 8.95 crore

  • Day 13 (Wednesday): Rs 0.60 crore

  • Day 14 (Thursday): Rs 0.60 crore

  • Total Net Collection: Rs 56.40 crore

Ajay Devgan’s ‘Dhamaal 4’ and Akshay’s ‘Welcome 2’ spoiled the whole game

The slow pace of ‘Alpha’ is believed to be due to the simultaneous release of several big films at the box office. Akshay Kumar’s multi-starrer film ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ was already having a good hold in the theatres, while recently released Ajay Devgan’s cult comedy film ‘Dhamaal 4’ has created havoc at the box office and has attracted most of the audience. The stellar performance of both these films has affected the screen counts and footfall of Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’ to a great extent, due to which the entire mathematics of the film got spoiled.

Even the huge army of stars did not help: Hrithik Roshan’s cameo was also ineffective

The spy thriller ‘Alpha’ is directed by Netflix’s very popular web series ‘The Railway Man’ fame director Shiv Rawail. Apart from the tremendous action packed characters of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh in the film, Bollywood’s evergreen superstar Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol are also seen in lead roles in Dark Shade. Not only this, to surprise the fans, a cult cameo of superstar Hrithik Roshan was also included in the film. Despite this, due to the weak story and slow script, even this huge star cast failed to keep the audience engaged.

The wheel stopped due to tough competition between these 5 big films

Yash Raj Films’ ‘Alpha’ had to compete with not just one or two but half a dozen films simultaneously at the box office. The list of films running in theaters includes films of different genres like Shahid Kapoor’s ‘Cocktail 2’, Kangana Ranaut’s political drama ‘Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata’, Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Wapas Aaunga’ and horror thriller ‘Haunted 3D Echoes of the Past’. Due to this tough multi-cornered competition, ‘Alpha’ could not get the desired audience and the film was out of the race to become a big hit.
