
Ganga Expressway Industrial Corridor Meerut: Uttar Pradesh’s plan to develop an industrial corridor along the ambitious project ‘Ganga Expressway’ seems to be stuck in land acquisition. Despite strict orders from the Uttar Pradesh government and UPIEDA, it has become a big and headache challenge for the Meerut district administration to acquire sufficient land for the project. Due to massive protests and demonstrations by farmers, the pace of this big expressway project has slowed down.
214 hectares required in first phase, administration got only 159 hectares
To create an industrial corridor under the first phase along the Ganga Expressway to give new heights to the development of Meerut. 214 hectares Land is required. The process of purchasing this land has been going on for more than a year, but the work had almost come to a standstill for the last several months.

Administration in action after DM meeting, 9 contracts made in one day
Recently, the District Magistrate (DM) of Meerut had held a high-level meeting with administrative officials to break the deadlock of land acquisition. After the strict instructions received in this meeting, the Tehsil administration took major action on Monday. The administration in a single day 9 hectares of land from 17 farmers through 9 different deeds Successfully acquired. After this new purchase, the total land available with the administration has increased. 159 hectares has been reached, but it is still far away from the target (214 hectares).
Farmers have been sitting on strike for the second phase for nine and a half months
Amidst the difficulties of the first phase, the path of the second phase (Phase 2) of the industrial corridor seems to be even more thorny.

The aim of the government is to build logistics parks, warehouses and manufacturing hubs along the expressway so that lakhs of youth can get employment at the local level and the economy of the state can be boosted. But this land dispute going on in Meerut is coming in the way of the government’s deadline.
