“Petrol of ₹102 should be available for ₹70”: Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at the Center over crude oil prices; Answer sought from auto companies within 7 days

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday made a scathing attack on the central government over the skyrocketing prices of petrol and diesel in the country. While presenting the figures of the global market, Kejriwal said that when the prices of crude oil have come down to a record low at the global level, then why are the common people of the country not getting direct benefits from it? He claimed that if correct calculations are done then the price of petrol in the country should be quite low at this time.

Crude oil fell from $115 to $70 in the international market.

Addressing a press conference, Arvind Kejriwal said, “The price of crude oil in the international market has fallen drastically from $115 per barrel to $70 per barrel. When the price of crude oil has come down so much, then the oil prices in our country should also be reduced immediately.”

He further said that the price of petrol in our country has been increased to ₹ 102 per liter. Presenting a new mathematics to provide relief to the general public, he said:

  • According to general calculation: Petrol price in the country ₹82 per liter There should be.

  • According to E20 (20% ethanol blended): If the government is providing ethanol blended fuel, then the price of petrol will reduce. ₹70 per liter It should be done.

Kejriwal said that the same rule should apply to diesel also. If diesel prices decrease, freight transportation will become cheaper and this will automatically reduce the inflation of everything in the country.

“Why doesn’t the government compensate for the losses with bumper profits?”

Questioning the arguments of the government and the oil companies to compensate for the old losses, Kejriwal said, “Whenever crude oil became very cheap in the international market, the central government did not reduce the prices in the country. During that time, can’t the bumper profits made by the oil companies be used to set-off the losses incurred during wars or other crises? The ₹ 102 that is currently being charged from the public should be reduced immediately.”

Ultimatum to 29 automobile companies regarding E20 fuel

Apart from petrol prices, Arvind Kejriwal has also raised concerns about the damage caused to vehicles and mileage due to the use of ethanol-blended petrol (E20 Fuel). He addressed the country on Wednesday Official letter to 29 big automobile manufacturing companies Written clarification has been sought on the impact of E20 fuel on vehicle mileage and engine safety. Kejriwal told all the companies within 7 days Have been given an ultimatum to submit your answer.

He said that separate letters have been sent to Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Hero MotoCorp on specific technical points. Whereas a general letter has been sent to the remaining 26 vehicle manufacturers seeking their opinion and data on the use of E20 fuel and the concerns raised in the minds of consumers.

Kejriwal also lashed out at the plight of monsoon in Delhi

Kejriwal expressed his anger at the present administration regarding the severe waterlogging and collapsed infrastructure after the first monsoon rains in Delhi. He said:

“I laugh that the media and opposition people repeatedly show the picture of Minto Bridge, whereas the problem of waterlogging on Minto Bridge was completely rectified by our government during its tenure. Look at the situation in Delhi today, there is water everywhere, there are piles of garbage on the roads and the roads are badly dilapidated. Within just one year, they have made the condition of Delhi such that the people here had never seen before.”
