Noida Weather Update: Monsoon rains in Noida-NCR, relief from heat but the pace slowed down due to waterlogging and severe traffic jams.

Monsoon has become fully active in Noida and Greater Noida, the major industrial cities of Delhi-NCR. The local residents, who have been suffering from the scorching heat and sticky humidity for the past several days, have got a big relief from the heavy rain on Tuesday. In the afternoon the weather suddenly changed and thick dark clouds appeared in the sky and strong cold winds started blowing. After this the torrential rains started and continued till the evening. Due to this rain, on one hand there was a huge drop in temperature and the weather became pleasant, on the other hand due to waterlogging, working people had to face severe traffic jams and problems on the roads.

Greater Noida Authority’s claims exposed, 130 meter road submerged

This first heavy rain exposed the local administration, which had made tall claims of preparations to deal with waterlogging before monsoon in Noida and Greater Noida. The failure of the drainage system of the Municipal Corporation and the Authority was clearly visible due to accumulation of water on the roads and intersections after the rain.

The worst situation was seen at Surajpur, Kulesara in Greater Noida and the famous 130 meter road located near the Greater Noida Authority office, where the road completely turned into a river. Apart from this, water accumulated up to several feet near many major roundabouts of Greater Noida. Same was the situation in Dadri, where life became completely disrupted due to water logging in many major residential and commercial areas including the main market of Dadri.

Heavy traffic jam due to waterlogging, traffic police had to work hard

Due to continuous heavy rains and waterlogging at major roundabouts and main roads, the movement of vehicles came to a standstill across Noida-NCR. Due to waterlogging, two-wheeler and four-wheeler drivers were unable to find a way out, due to which long queues of vehicles formed on the roads and a severe traffic jam was created. People returning home from offices in the evening had to remain stuck in traffic for hours. During this time, the traffic police of Noida and Greater Noida had to come out on the road and work hard to free the vehicles stuck in waterlogging and clear the jam.
