Monsoon has gained its full speed in Uttar Pradesh. After torrential rains in most parts of the state including the capital Lucknow, Noida, Moradabad and Prayagraj on Tuesday, intermittent torrential rains are continuing in many districts since the morning of Wednesday i.e. July 8, 2026. While this monsoon rain has brought a huge drop in the temperature and people have got a big relief from the humid and scorching heat, the Meteorological Department has issued a very sensitive alert in the state for the next few hours.

Storm will blow at a speed of 80 km per hour, warning of thunderstorms

According to meteorologists, during this rain, there is a possibility of strong winds and storms with a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour in many parts of the state. Along with this, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a serious warning of lightning. Today in the capital Lucknow, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius.

Due to rain on Tuesday, a view like ‘rivers’ was seen on the roads.

Earlier on Tuesday, heavy rain was recorded in more than 50 cities of UP including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Chandauli and Moradabad. Due to torrential rains in Shamli in western UP, roads were completely submerged and a scene like rivers was seen there. At the same time, due to heavy rain of just one hour in Amroha district, Delhi-Lucknow National Highway was flooded with water up to several feet, due to which vehicular movement was badly affected. Local residents had to face a lot of problems due to waterlogging in Mathura and Agra also.

Why did monsoon suddenly become active? What did the meteorologists say?

Atul Kumar Singh, senior scientist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, said that a strong depression had formed in the north-western Bay of Bengal. This weather system crossing the North Odisha coast is currently centered over the skies over South Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh. Due to the effect of this weather system, monsoon has suddenly become very active and aggressive in the entire Uttar Pradesh. However, meteorologists also estimate that despite this initial surge, this year the total monsoon rainfall in the entire country including UP may be slightly less than normal.

Weather will remain like this till July 12, special advice to farmers

According to the new prediction of the Meteorological Department, the weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh will remain similar with activity till July 12, 2026. Especially in Western UP, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at most places between July 8 and 10, while in the districts of Eastern UP, there will be rain and thundershowers. In view of this severity of the weather and strong storm, the administration has given special advice to the people of rural areas and especially the farmers not to go in open fields or under trees during bad weather and to stay in safe places.
