The alleged embezzlement case of offerings in the Prabhu Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, the biggest center of faith for crores of Ram devotees in Ayodhya, has now taken a new and very sensational turn. The initial report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing this entire scam in depth, has made a shocking revelation that the disappearance of cash from the donation box of the temple was not a one-time or two-time incident. According to the report, this was a big conspiracy being carried out in a very planned manner over a long period of time. Soon after this big report became public, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has accepted the official resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra in its emergency meeting.
SIT claims: CCTV footage of 45 days shows theft 70 times
The investigating agency (SIT) has closely scrutinized the extensive CCTV footage of about 45 days from the cameras installed inside the temple premises. According to the report, gross negligence and laxity were found in security checking and monitoring of counting room staff during this period. Based on the footage, the investigation team claims that some of the main accused used to cleverly hide cash worth lakhs in their clothes while leaving the temple premises. The SIT has mentioned in its report that just before this surprise check, cash worth about Rs 78.94 lakh had already been recovered from some suspected employees. Apart from this, on June 4, about Rs 2.25 lakh in unclaimed cash was also recovered from a washroom attached to the counting centre.
Questions raised on the role of Dr. Anil Mishra, SOP was not followed
In the preliminary report of the SIT, serious fingers have also been raised on the administrative functioning and role of former trustee Dr. Anil Mishra. According to the investigation, when he was given the command of donation management and security system on September 20, 2024, during his tenure, the stringent Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) made for counting donations was not followed. He ignored the rules and appointed people of his choice and directly appointed Subhash Srivastava as the new in-charge of the counting centre, due to which the entire monitoring system collapsed.
Main accused Tinnu Yadav was handling the keys of hundis without permission
In the report, many big revelations have also been made about Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, the main mastermind of this entire racket and the main accused. According to the SIT, Tinnu Yadav was keeping the keys of the main donation boxes (hundis) with himself without any written official permission or order and was accessing them whenever he wanted. Not only this, due to the special recommendation and influence of Tinnu Yadav, another suspicious person named Manish Kumar Yadav was also deployed in the main counting room of donation amount without proper verification.
Cash was disappearing daily, final report will come on July 22
After a thorough analysis of the CCTV cameras, the SIT has clarified that small and big thefts were committed at least 70 times within 45 days. According to the report, this illegal process probably started in full swing around April or May 2025 and continued till the case was opened on June 5 this year. The investigating agency believes that during this entire time period, there was massive misappropriation of cash offerings in some form or the other almost every day.
