The case of alleged theft of offerings in Ayodhya Ram temple has brought the politics of Maharashtra to a boil. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has launched a strong attack on the central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has sounded the trumpet of ‘Ram Raksha Andolan’. After offering prayers at the Hanuman temple in Dadar, Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the Hindus of the country are being hypnotized and looted. He clearly warned that if Hindutva is misused and temples are looted, the Hindu society will no longer remain silent.

‘Ram Raksha Andolan’ will go to every village

Uddhav Thackeray has pledged to take this movement to every village in the state. He said that the investigation into the theft in Ram temple offerings should be impartial, because making the robbers investigate their own loot is a travesty of justice. Thackeray said that his struggle will continue until the truth comes out. On this occasion, he made a noise by wearing saffron kurta and said that Lord Ram does not belong to any one party, but to the entire country. Taking a dig at BJP, he also raised the slogan ‘BJP Mukt Ram’.

Fadnavis counterattacks, targets Uddhav

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has sharply retaliated on Uddhav Thackeray’s statements. Fadnavis said in Gadchiroli that he was happy that after abandoning the path of Ram, Uddhav Thackeray finally remembered Ram. The Chief Minister sarcastically said that it is expected that he will recite ‘Ram Raksha Stotra’ not only today but every day. Fadnavis alleged that Uddhav’s party has declined because of moving away from Ram.

Questions raised not only on Ram temple but also on other temples

Uddhav Thackeray not only raised the issue of Ayodhya but also made serious allegations of corruption in other temples. Quoting Jyotirmath chief Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, he talked about the disappearance of gold from Kedarnath temple. Along with this, he also alleged irregularities in Ujjain and Badrinath temples. Thackeray said those who question his patriotism are actually ‘thief protectors’. He clarified that he is a true Hindu and will not tolerate playing with the culture of the country.
