Chaturmas starts from 25th July, then why are the auspicious works being stopped from 12th July itself? Know the real reason behind this Chaturmas begins on July 25, so why are auspicious activities stopping as early as July 12? Find out the real reason behind this.

Chaturmas has special significance in Sanatan Dharma, which is going to start from 25th July this year. With Lord Vishnu going into Yoga Nidra in Kshirsagar, all auspicious activities stop for the next four months. But this time there is a big doubt among the devotees across the country and the families planning their marriage that when Chaturmas is falling on Devshayani Ekadashi on 25th July, then why the auspicious activities are being banned from 12th July itself. It is very important for everyone to know the major reason behind this given by astrologers and pundits.

Mathematics of setting of Bhadra and Venus-Guru star, hence Shehnai will stop from 12th July

According to the Panchang and astrological calculations, there is a major change in the position of the planets even before Devshayani Ekadashi. In fact, since July 12, the auspicious time required for marriage is ending due to the position of Venus and Jupiter stars and Bhadra Dosha. In Sanatan tradition, marriages take place as soon as Jupiter and Venus rise. Along with this, the entry of Sun God into Cancer (Karka Sankranti) is also taking place during this time, due to which situations like Kharmas are created. This is the reason that from July 12, about two weeks before the formal start of Chaturmas, there will be a complete stop on big auspicious functions like weddings and house warming across the country.

What to do and what not to do in the next four months, know the important rules

During these four months of Chaturmas (Shravan, Bhadrapada, Ashwin and Kartik), it is advisable to take certain precautions from a religious point of view. Adopting a virtuous lifestyle during this period is considered best. According to the rules, one should avoid consumption of tamasic food, garlic, onion, meat, alcohol and green leafy vegetables (especially spinach in Saavan and curd in Bhadon) during these four months. On the contrary, during this time, regular worship of Lord Vishnu and Shiva, chanting of Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, charity, fasting and listening to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha are considered extremely fruitful. This also improves physical health.
