Insurgency in PoK: Pakistan stopped supply of ration and fuel, 128 government employees dismissed; Threat to stop pension

Muzaffarabad/International Desk: The fire of rebellion raging in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is now completely out of control. The people of PoK have now started an all-out war against the atrocities and step-motherly treatment of the Pakistani government. The situation has worsened to such an extent that in order to crush the movement and suppress the voice of the local people, the Islamabad government has stopped the supply of food grains (ration), diesel-petrol and other essential items in many areas. The protesters seriously allege that the Shehbaz Sharif government is putting mental and physical pressure on the common citizens through this severe shortage so as to weaken the movement from within.

Thousands of people took to the streets; Demand for cheap electricity and subsidy

This is becoming the biggest mass movement in the history of PoK, where thousands of women, youth and elderly are camping on the streets. The main demands of the protesters include providing cheap electricity on the lines of India, restoration of government subsidies on basic food grains like flour and pulses, better health facilities in hospitals, basic political rights and major reforms in the corrupt administrative structure. The protesters say that instead of listening to their legitimate demands and giving them their rights, the Pakistan government has handed over the entire area to the army and paramilitary forces. Internet services have been completely blocked in many areas so that pictures of the atrocities taking place in PoK cannot be exposed to the world.

Government employees punished, retired soldiers threatened to stop pension

To suppress the movement, the Pakistani administration has now resorted to extremely cruel and repressive policies. So far, 128 government employees have been terminated for supporting and participating in the protests. Not only this, the top leaders of the movement have revealed that the ex-servicemen (retired soldiers) living in PoK who took part in this demonstration or supported the public, are being warned of serious consequences. The administration is even threatening to stop the pension of their families, due to which the anger among the people has reached the seventh sky.

Dozens of deaths in violent clashes, Kashmiri activists being put in jail

Large-scale violence has erupted across the region due to brutality by Pakistani security forces and police. Dozens of local people have died so far during the violent action and indiscriminate firing, while hundreds are seriously injured. Human rights activists, protest leaders and supporters are being forcibly detained and put in jails and cases are being filed against them under serious sections like treason. On the other hand, the Pakistani administration is claiming in its clarification that they are taking action only against those who are involved in ‘illegal’ activities and sabotage.

Business stalled, people of PoK on the verge of starvation

This acute shortage of essential commodities, deliberately created by the government, has made life difficult for local communities. Trade in major markets of PoK has come to a complete standstill, fuel for vehicles and ambulances is running out, and the worst hit are the poor daily wage families who are now facing the crisis of two meals a day. Despite this inhuman blockade, the people of PoK are not ready to retreat. The protesters have made it clear that unless the Pakistan government bows down and fulfills their demands, this movement will continue to intensify.
