EPFO Portal Shutdown: Shock to PF account holders, after the portal, Umang app also locked; These services including claims and balance check will remain halted till July 2.

If you are also in a private or government job and are planning to withdraw advance money from your PF account, settle claim or check your PF balance, then there is a very important and alert news for you. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has temporarily blocked all online claim services offered through its main portal due to technical reasons.

The surprising thing is that along with the EPFO portal, all the digital services related to PF available on the popular ‘Umang App’ of the Central Government will also be completely unavailable for the next few days. Due to this sudden shutdown, crores of PF subscribers of the country may be directly affected. Let us know in detail how long these services of EPFO are going to remain closed and when will the account holders be able to do their work smoothly again.

EPFO portal update: Online claim service will be completely stopped for 3 days

According to the official notice issued by EPFO, the data migration work is being done as part of a pre-planned plan to strengthen the software applications and database security systems of the department. Due to this technical work, all services of online claim submission and processing will remain completely closed from 00:00 hrs (midnight) of 26th June to 23:59 hrs (midnight) of 28th June. All these digital services on the PF portal will be made live again as normal from 00:00 am on June 29.

During this maintenance period, PF members will neither be able to fill any new online claim form nor will the old pending claims be processed at the department level. It is also worth noting that further action on the claims which have been submitted just before this shutdown, will be started only after the services are completely restored i.e. from June 29.

Trouble increases on Umang app till July 2, 2026, these 5 important tasks will not be possible

Apart from the main EPFO portal, the PF department has issued another important alert stating that due to scheduled maintenance activity, all EPFO services on the government mobile application ‘Umang’ will also remain completely locked till July 2, 2026. This interruption on the Umang app is going to be longer than on the portal, due to which the working people who manage their PF work through smartphones will not be able to avail these very important services for the next few days:

  • Checking Balance and Passbook: Members will not be able to see the amount deposited in their PF account and the passbook of monthly contribution.

  • New Claim and Tracking: No advance PF or full withdrawal claim will be filed nor will the status of old claims be tracked.

  • UAN based services: Services like activating or making corrections in Universal Account Number (UAN) will remain closed.

  • Grievance redressal: Grievance cannot be lodged through Umang app for any problem related to EPFO.

  • Application for Certificates: The process of submission of scheme certificate and digital life certificate required for pensioners will also be halted during this period.

Why was such a big decision taken? EPFO told the real reason

Regarding this temporary inconvenience caused to crores of subscribers, the EPFO administration says that the main objective of this major technical upgradation and database consolidation (data integration) is to make the entire digital infrastructure of the department safer, faster and more efficient from cyber threats.

According to officials, after the implementation of this new upgrade, EPFO’s claim processing system will become many times stronger and transparent than before. This will directly benefit the subscribers in future, because then the time taken for claim settlement will be significantly reduced and people will get a great user experience without any errors. In such a situation, if any of your important PF related work is stuck, then you will have to wait till June 29 for the EPFO portal and till July 2 for the Umang app.
