There has been a huge decline in the global popularity of US President Donald Trump. The results of a recent survey released by the Pew Research Center show that the number of people who trust his policies and his leadership style has reduced significantly across the world. According to survey data, about 76% people have clearly said that they have no confidence in Trump’s leadership in handling global affairs. This report is a big diplomatic signal for the Trump administration, which shows that its ‘America First’ policy has affected its image at the international level.
Surprising figures revealed in the survey
This extensive survey was conducted among more than 42,000 people from 36 countries, in which a major decrease in Trump’s approval rating has been seen. Only 23% of the participants expressed their confidence in Trump in resolving global affairs. In 16 out of 24 countries included in the survey, trust in Trump has decreased significantly compared to last year. The special thing is that no increase in his popularity has been recorded in any major country. Trump’s rating has also reached its lowest level in major European countries like Germany, France and Greece, which points to tension in trans-Atlantic relations.
Trump’s influence in India and failure of tariff policy
Talking about India, the picture is a little different here, but the decline is clearly visible here too. In the survey, 39% of Indian participants have expressed confidence in Trump’s leadership, whereas last year this figure was 51%. In the same survey, the number of Indians expressing confidence in Russian President Vladimir Putin on global affairs was 51%. The ‘tariff policy’ of the Trump administration was the most unpopular globally. According to the survey, only 18% of the global population supported this policy. In developed countries like Britain, Canada, Japan and Germany, the number of people supporting this policy remained much below 20%. Kenya emerged as the only country where Trump’s tariff policy received majority support (55%).
