Why was the old plan changed after the objection of the Irrigation Department?
To get this project off the ground, the administration had to make a major technical change in its initial plans:

Old Scheme: Initially, the engineers’ plan was to build the road just above the flood control embankment (dam) of the Yamuna River.

Objection and new solution: Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department had clearly refused to give NOC on this old plan considering the strength, safety and flood risks of the dam. After this serious objection of the department, the plan was changed. Now, without touching the dam, a completely elevated expressway will be built by erecting pillars right next to it, which will not violate the environmental and river safety standards.
Delhi’s DND flyway will become diplomatic junction
After the commissioning of this expressway, Delhi’s DND Flyway will be transformed into the country’s largest and major highway hub (Junctions). Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Delhi-Saharanpur Expressway already pass through Akshardham. Now the link lines of these two big highways will be connected through Mayur Vihar. Chilla Elevated Road Will be connected to. Due to this connectivity, passengers coming from Meerut, Saharanpur or East Delhi will get a signal-free and superfast route directly to Jewar Airport.
