On the inflation front, there is a relief news for the general public on the first day of the week. On Monday, June 22, the country’s government oil companies have released the latest rates of LPG gas cylinders (LPG Price Today). Today, there has been no change in the prices of both domestic and commercial gas cylinders, that is, the prices are completely stable. Before this, the last time on June 7, the price of domestic LPG cylinder was increased by ₹ 29, while the rates of commercial cylinder were then increased from ₹ 42 to ₹ 53.50.
Another good news for India on the global front is that after the interim agreement between America and Iran, the ‘Strait of Hormuz’ has been opened again for the movement of ships. Since India is largely dependent on imports for its LPG requirements, the opening of this sea route will ensure uninterrupted supply of gas. Let us tell you that since the US-Iran war situation broke out in the Middle East, the prices of domestic cylinders have increased twice, while the prices of commercial cylinders have increased by 79% since then.

Domestic gas cylinder in India is cheaper than America and Pakistan
A very interesting fact has emerged from the analysis of government data. Domestic LPG prices in India are much lower than its neighboring countries and many developed western countries. While common consumers in Delhi are getting this cylinder for ₹ 942, its price in neighboring country Pakistan is ₹ 1,046, in Nepal ₹ 1,207, in Bangladesh ₹ 1,225 and in Sri Lanka ₹ 1,241.
Talking about developed countries, one has to pay ₹ 1,755 for a cylinder in America, ₹ 1,765 in Australia and ₹ 2,411 in Canada. The most important thing is that this same domestic cylinder is being made available to the beneficiaries of ‘Ujjwala Yojana’ of the Government of India for only ₹ 642, which is one of the most affordable rates globally.
Saudi Aramco increased prices, will LPG become expensive again from July 1?
According to a recent report by Reuters, the world’s largest oil and gas producing company ‘Saudi Aramco’ has announced an increase of 1% to 3% in the official selling price (OSP) of LPG for the month of June. The company has increased the price of propane by $10 per metric ton and butane by $20 per metric ton in the international market. After this increase, the new price of propane in the global market has reached a high of $ 760 per metric ton and the rate of butane has reached a high of $ 820 per metric ton.
In fact, this boil is being seen in the global gas market due to diplomatic uncertainty regarding the final peace agreement between America and Iran and fears of the Strait of Hormuz being closed again in the future. Since the price fixed by Saudi Aramco is considered the official international benchmark rate of LPG across the world, this increase will have a direct impact on the input cost of Indian oil companies. Commodity experts believe that if gas prices remain high in the global market, then the prices of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders may be increased once again in the monthly review meeting of government oil companies to be held on July 1.
