This period of monsoon rains will continue without any interruption for the next several days in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal comprising the Ganga plains. In view of the possibility of heavy thunderstorms in some specific districts, people have been instructed not to stand under trees and electric poles during rains.
On the other hand, monsoon is also fully active in the states of South India – Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. There will be strong winds and torrential rains along with thunderstorms in the coastal and interior areas of these states. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding the agricultural areas of South India. On one hand, while most parts of the country are being drenched in monsoon showers, on the other hand, in some interior parts of Telangana and Vidarbha (Maharashtra), just before the arrival of monsoon, the effect of ‘hot and humid heat wave’ is persisting.
