A major attempt to hack into the TGT examination conducted in Uttar Pradesh amid tight security arrangements and claims of administrative promptness has been foiled. There was a stir during checking in three different districts of the state – capital Lucknow, Jaunpur and Chitrakoot when four vicious henchmen of Solver gang were caught red handed. These ‘Munnabhai’ were extorting huge amounts of money from the real candidates and solving the papers by sitting in the examination hall in their place. Due to biometric verification and strict checking campaign, the cunningness of these fraudsters was ruined. After this big revelation, police and STF teams have now started searching for the mastermind of this racket.
This is how the first solver was caught at the examination center of the capital Lucknow.
The first case of fraud came to light from a reputed examination center in the capital Lucknow. After the commencement of the examination here, when the team of Static Magistrate and Center Administrator was matching the admit cards and thumb impressions (biometric) of the candidates, then suspicion was raised over the actions of a young man. When his documents were closely examined, the photographs and fingerprints did not match those of the real candidate. During strict interrogation by the police, the accused confessed that he had taken an advance of Rs 1 lakh and was appearing for the exam to play with the future of another student. The police immediately took Munnabhai into custody and there was an atmosphere of chaos at the center for some time.
Even in Jaunpur and Chitrakoot, Munnabhaiya’s game completely flopped.
Like Lucknow, in Jaunpur and Chitrakoot districts too, the solver gang operatives had made full preparations to crack the examination, but they could not escape the keen eyes of the administration. During checking at a center in Jaunpur, two suspicious youths were caught, who were insisting on taking the exam by claiming themselves to be real candidates. Upon strict interrogation, fake identity cards and fake documents were recovered from them. At the same time, in Chitrakoot also, a solver was arrested from inside the examination hall itself. All these arrested accused were sitting in the examination in a very clever manner by preparing photographs similar to the appearance of the real candidates, so that no one could have any doubt.
Racket for getting government jobs was running with huge amount of money
Initial investigation and interrogation of the police has revealed that this entire game was being run by an organized solver gang. This gang used to make deals worth lakhs of rupees with unemployed youth on the pretext of getting them government jobs. After the deal was finalized, the gang’s educated shooters or solvers were sent to the examination centers after paying huge amounts of money and advance. Several mobile phones, fake admit cards and suspicious documents have been recovered from the arrested Munnabhais, which are being investigated by the cyber cell and STF. Police officials say that the bank accounts and call details of the accused are being scrutinized so that the roots of this gang can be reached.
Strict security cordon and biometric checking spoiled the plan of Solver Gang.
This time, Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board and administration had made unprecedented arrangements to conduct the TGT examination in a fair manner. Along with monitoring CCTV cameras, jammers were installed at all the examination centers so that no electronic device could work. But this time the biggest reason for Solver Gang’s defeat was ‘strict biometric and face recognition testing’. As soon as these Munnabhais put their thumbs on the system, the computer detected the fraud. The administration says that a case has been registered against the arrested accused under serious sections in the respective police stations and they are being sent to jail, and legal action will be taken by debarring (banning) them from the examination in place of the real candidates in whose place they were appearing.
