Under this welfare scheme, a huge financial assistance of Rs 3,000 will be sent directly to the bank account of the eligible women of Bengal every month. The main objective of the government is to make half the population economically empowered and self-reliant through Direct Bank Transfer (DBT), so that they do not depend on anyone else for their daily needs, household expenses and health related needs.

The government has set some very important and stringent eligibility criteria to avail the benefits of Annapurna Bhandar Yojana. Only those women will be able to avail the benefits of this scheme who fulfill these conditions:

  • It is mandatory for the applicant to be a woman and she must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.

  • The age limit of the woman applying should be between 25 years to 60 years.

  • The woman or her family should not be an income tax payer.

  • The applicant woman should not be a permanent or retired government employee in any government department.

  • He should not receive regular salary or pension from the Central or State Government, Panchayat, Municipal Body or any institution with government funding.

  • Women should not be employed on teaching or non-teaching posts in any government aided educational institution of West Bengal.
