IMD June Weather Update: After pleasant weather, now you will have to sweat again in June; Severe heat wave returns in many states including Delhi-UP

Due to the Western Disturbance that came in the last days of May, people of entire North India including Delhi-NCR got a big relief from the scorching heat. Due to heavy rains, cold winds and snowfall in the hilly areas, the weather had remained quite pleasant for the last three-four days and the temperature had also dropped significantly by 5 to 12 degrees Celsius.

But if you are thinking that this harsh summer phase is completely over, then you may be wrong. The new update released by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) for the first week of June is a matter of concern. If you are planning to go out somewhere this week, then go out of the house only after knowing the weather conditions.

Below average rainfall in June and shadow of El Nino

According to the Meteorological Department, the beginning of monsoon this year is going to be a little weak and sluggish. Due to this, the total rainfall across the country in the month of June is expected to be below average. Due to the slow pace of monsoon and the effect of El Nino, severe heat wave is going to return once again in the plains of north-west and central India. However, scientists say that mild western disturbances will keep coming in the middle of the month, which may provide temporary relief for some time, but overall the month of June is going to be very hot.

⚠️ Advice from meteorologists regarding travel and health

Light thunderstorms and sporadic rains are expected this week in hilly states like Himachal Pradesh and parts of Jammu and Kashmir, due to which the weather will remain slightly fine there. But people in the plains have been instructed to take special precautions. Avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight in the afternoon, as the sudden increase in temperature greatly increases the risk of dehydration and heat stroke. Always keep a water bottle with you while going out and go out only after covering your body completely.
