Administrative Reshuffle in UP: Massive Transfers Across Several Departments—26 ARTOs, 6 Deputy Excise Commissioners, and 30 BSAs Transferred

The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has once again made a major reshuffle to make the administrative system more efficient. Under a major decision taken late night at the government level, massive transfers have been made in many important departments of the state. Many senior and provincial service officers of the Transport Department, Excise Department and Basic Education Department have come under the influence of this reshuffle. With the aim of speeding up law and order and departmental functioning, the government has simultaneously changed the jurisdictions of 26 ARTOs, 6 Deputy Excise Commissioners and 30 District Basic Education Officers (BSA).

Transport Department: Changed jurisdiction of 26 ARTOs

A large-scale reshuffle has been made in the Transport Department to increase revenue and make enforcement action more effective. 26 Assistant Divisional Transport Officers (ARTOs) posted in various districts of the state have been transferred and given new responsibilities. According to the order issued by the government, enforcement and administration in-charges of many districts have been changed so that transparency and dynamism can be brought in the departmental work.

Excise Department: Transfer of 6 Deputy Excise Commissioners

The government has also made a major reshuffle in the Excise Department and transferred 6 senior officers of the Provincial Excise Service from here to there. This includes officers of the level of Deputy Commissioner (Deputy Excise Commissioner). The transfer of these officers posted at the Excise Headquarters and various zones is said to be due to administrative necessity and a strategy to meet the upcoming revenue targets on time.

Basic Education Department: BSA of 30 districts changed

The biggest and most comprehensive reshuffle has been seen in the Basic Education Department. District Basic Education Officers (BSA) of 30 districts of the state have been transferred together. This major reshuffle in the middle of the academic session is being considered very important.

  • Officers changed in these districts: According to the transfer list, new basic education officers have been deployed in a total of 30 districts of the state including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj, and Bareilly.

  • Reason: According to government sources, in the districts where laxity was being observed in the implementation of departmental schemes or complaints were being received from officials, new and energetic officers have been given command so that the system of council schools can be further improved.

Major changes expected in future during transfer session

According to reports coming from the administrative corridors, these transfers are part of the routine and performance-based review of the Yogi government. As soon as the month of June starts, the transfer season becomes fully active in Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, it is believed that in the coming days, another big transfer list of officers of IAS, IPS and Provincial Civil Service (PCS) cadre may also come.
