Once again a fight has started in the political circles of Bihar regarding the government bungalow. Rohini Acharya, daughter of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and candidate from Saran in the Lok Sabha elections, has opened a front against the Nitish government and the NDA alliance. Rohini Acharya has taken a very sharp stance on the ongoing administrative and political rhetoric regarding the ’10 Circular Road’ residence of former Chief Minister Rabri Devi in Patna. He has openly challenged the government in front of social media and media and said that if the present government has the courage, then it should show it by vacating this bungalow.
Why did the bungalow at ’10 Circular Road’ come into discussion?
In fact, after the change of power and change in political equations in Bihar, there were reports of review of government residences of opposition leaders. The bungalow located at ’10 Circular Road’ in Patna is not just a government residence, but it has been the biggest center of politics of RJD and Lalu family for the last two decades. This bungalow has been allotted to Rabri Devi for her life as a former Chief Minister. But in recent times, after some statements and political speculations made by NDA leaders regarding this bungalow, Lalu family has become the attacker.
Rohini Acharya’s strong attack: ‘This is public love, not dole’
Rohini Acharya, known for her outspoken statements, took the government to task and said that Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi have struggled for the people of Bihar for decades. He said, “10 Circular Road is a symbol of the faith of crores of poor, deprived and RJD workers of Bihar. We have not got this bungalow as a gift from anyone, but as per the rules and with the blessings of the public.” Rohini directly challenged the government and said that if an attempt is made to take over the bungalow out of political malice, RJD workers will take to the streets.
Politics has taken place even at Tejashwi Yadav’s official residence.
Controversy regarding bungalows is nothing new in Bihar politics. Earlier, when Tejashwi Yadav had stepped down from the post of Deputy Chief Minister, there was a long legal and political drama regarding vacating his official residence (5 Deshratna Marg). The NDA government’s argument is that as per the rules, the house should be vacated within the stipulated time after leaving the post, whereas the RJD has been calling it a government conspiracy to harass the opposition leaders.
Political heat will increase before the upcoming assembly elections
Political analysts believe that this aggressive statement of Rohini Acharya is not just a fight for a bungalow, but it is part of the strategy to strengthen her ground and energize the workers before the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The way Rohini Acharya is cornering Nitish government and BJP on every front, it is clear that Bihar’s ‘Bangla politics’ is going to take a more aggressive form in the coming days.
