A heartbreaking accident has come to light in Gopalganj district of Bihar, where three teenage girls were washed away in the strong current of Gandak river. This incident took place at Dumariya Ghat in Mohammadpur police station area. As soon as the information was received, there was panic in the entire area and the administration and police teams are running the rescue operation on a war footing.

How did this tragic accident happen?

According to the information received, three teenage girls from Tandaspur village were crossing the Gandak river for farming work as usual. To cross the river, he chose the method of swimming, which is often adopted in rural areas.

  • Deep Water Hunting: While crossing the river he suddenly lost his sense of the depth of the water. Due to the strong flow of Gandak river, she lost her balance and fell into deep water.

  • Family members and villagers shocked: As soon as information about the incident was received, mourning spread in Tandaspur village. The missing girls include two real sisters (daughters of Chandan Yadav) and the third, another villager (daughter of Magistrate Rai). The family members are crying and in bad condition and there is silence in the entire village.

SDRF rescue operation continues

As soon as the information about the accident was received, Mohammadpur police and local administrative officials reached the spot at Dumariya Ghat. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team has also been immediately deployed for rescue operations.

However, the rescue team faces tough challenges:

  • adverse weather: Strong winds, bad weather and heavy rains that have been prevailing in the area for some time have made rescue operations extremely difficult.

  • Fast flow of river: Due to the onset of monsoon and rain, the water level and flow of the Gandak River is very fast, due to which divers are facing a lot of problems in searching for the girls.

Administration’s appeal

The district administration has appealed to the local people to exercise caution in view of the rising water level in the river and not to take the risk of entering the Gandak river. The administration has given instructions to the divers and rescue team present on the spot to work with full promptness. At present no trace of the girls has been found and the search is on.
