The second half of the year 2026 is going to be very special for those interested in astronomy and astrology. This year, an important lunar eclipse is going to occur on 28 August 2026. This will be a penumbral lunar eclipse. The biggest relief for the people of India from religious and spiritual point of view is that this lunar eclipse will not be visible in India.
Since this eclipse will not be visible in India, hence according to the rules of the scriptures, the Sutak Kaal of this eclipse will also not be valid in India. According to the principles of Sanatan Dharma, the Sutak of the eclipse and its religious rules are applicable only in those regions or countries where the eclipse is clearly visible with the naked eye.
Eclipse is taking place on Saavan Purnima, know the amazing combination of planets and constellations
This second lunar eclipse of the year is taking place on the auspicious occasion of full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Shravan (Saavan) month. On this day, a very rare and special combination of planets and constellations is taking place:
-
Date Time: Purnima Tithi will remain till 09:48 AM on this day, after which Pratipada Tithi will start immediately.
-
Effect of constellations: During this astronomical event, the sky will be dominated by both Shatabhisha Nakshatra and Purvabhadrapada Nakshatra.
-
Position of the Moon: At the time of eclipse, Moon God will be seated in Aquarius.
-
Auspicious Yoga: On this day, ‘Sukarma Yoga’ is being formed in the sky, which is considered very important from astrological point of view.
NASA said ‘Blood Moon’, know in which countries this sight will be seen?
According to scientists of the American space agency NASA, even though it is a partial and penumbral eclipse, an amazing sight will be seen during this time. When the eclipse will be at its peak, the color of the Moon will appear deep red. This is the reason why in scientific language it has been named ‘Blood Moon’.
According to NASA, the total duration of this beautiful astronomical event will be about three hours. This eclipse will be visible with full splendor mainly in the Pacific Ocean region, North and South America, Europe and Africa. Due to it not being visible in India, it will not have any religious or sutak effect, but its astrological effect can definitely be seen on the zodiac signs.
