When this superstar’s body was left unclaimed at the end of his life, Mahesh Bhatt stepped forward to fulfill his old bond Parveen Babi’s painful last time: Pooja Bhatt told the most bitter truth of Bollywood, told how the world kept watching the drama

Who can forget actress Parveen Babi, who ruled millions of hearts with her beauty and excellent acting in the 70s and 80s. Parveen Babi, who gave multiple superhit films like ‘Deewar’, ‘Shaan’, ‘Namak Halal’ and ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, had seen the stardom during her time which even today’s actresses dream of. But behind this glamor there was also a darkness hidden, which gradually destroyed his entire life. In the last phase of her life, she fell prey to serious mental illness and in the year 2005, she said goodbye to this world forever.

Recently, actress Pooja Bhatt, daughter of famous filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, has remembered those difficult days of Parveen Babi and the moments spent with her in an interview. Pooja Bhatt’s words force one to think that the world of cinema, as beautiful as it looks from outside, sometimes becomes equally cruel from inside.

That beautiful memory of childhood and the story of perfume

In an interview given on Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel, Pooja Bhatt shared her first and sweetest memory related to Parveen Babi. Pooja told that when she was a very young child, her father Mahesh Bhatt took her to Parveen Babi’s house.

Pooja Bhatt said-

“She was a very beautiful and vivacious woman. She always loved me very much. I will never forget the time she very lovingly gifted me a perfume. That is the image of Parveen Babi that is engraved in my mind – a brilliant and big star whose very nature was to give happiness and gifts to others.”

When Parveen Babi’s mental balance started deteriorating

During the interview, when Pooja Bhatt was asked about the most difficult phase of Parveen Babi’s life, her pain came out. Pooja told that Parveen Babi’s last moments were no less than a big tragedy. She had become extremely unwell both mentally and physically.

Pooja Bhatt mentioned a very controversial and shocking incident of that time, when Parveen Babi had made very serious and strange allegations against Amitabh Bachchan and the entire film industry.

  • Fear of poison and unique food: Pooja recalled that when Parveen Babi came back after a long time, she had completely changed. She was extremely scared and felt that people from the film industry wanted to kill her by mixing poison in her food. Due to this fear, she had given up normal food and was spending her days eating only eggs, because she felt that no one could adulterate eggs.

  • Paranoia regarding Amitabh Bachchan: She had accepted that Amitabh Bachchan was the enemy of her life and he still wanted to kill her. Pooja tells that once she saw Parveen Babi in the office of Stardust magazine, where she herself was using the Xerox machine and giving a very long interview against Amitabh Bachchan.

“People were enjoying the pain and publishing articles.”

Pooja Bhatt also attacked the insensitivity of the media and society of that time. He told that when Parveen Babi was completely mentally disintegrating and was screaming in mental agony, the people present there were enjoying the entire atmosphere instead of helping her or understanding her pain. Seeing the spectacle, people were publishing scurrilous articles and selling magazines. No one was coming forward to provide real help to that sick person.

When no one was with him, Mahesh Bhatt maintained the relationship with humanity

As tragic as the end of Parveen Babi’s life was, the scene after her death was equally disturbing. When he died in 2005, his body remained unclaimed in the hospital for several days as no one from his family or close relatives came forward.

In such a delicate and painful time, Pooja Bhatt’s father and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt came forward. Respecting their old relationships and memories, they took Parveen Babi’s body from the hospital, completed all the legal formalities and got her cremated with full respect. Pooja says that when the world had turned its back, her father performed a duty of humanity which will always be remembered.
