Bihar's Prakash Singh was murdered not in Banbhulpura riots, but because of illicit love affair with a policeman's wife

Nainital, 15 February (HS). During the riots in Banbhulpura of Haldwani, a young man named Prakash Kumar Singh, originally from Bihar, who had come to Haldwani on February 8, died due to three bullets being fired in his head. His body was found near the railway track. The cause of his death was said to be bullet injury during the riots, but in this case, Haldwani Police has made a sensational disclosure that Prakash died not because of the riots but because of illegal love affairs.

According to Haldwani Police, on the night of 8th February, Banbhulpura police station area had received information that a person was lying dead on the Awla Gate Gaula Bypass main road ahead of Indra Nagar Railway Gate. On this information, Sub Inspector Anil Kumar from Banbhulpura police station reached the spot. From the documents found with the deceased, he was identified as 25 year old Prakash Kumar Singh alias Aviraj son of Shyam Dev Singh, resident of Chhine village, Bhojpur Sinha, Bihar. Based on preliminary investigation, the investigating officer felt that he was murdered by some unknown person on the night of 8 February.

The case was investigated by Police Station Head Neeraj Bhakuni. During investigation, examination of mobile etc. of deceased Prakash Kumar Singh and with the help of SOG and surveillance revealed that deceased Prakash was in contact with a youth named Suraj from Sitarganj and he was also talking to other numbers of Uttarakhand. He reached Haldwani only on 8th February. He used to come and go to the house of 28 year old Suraj Bain, son of Pavitra Bain, resident of Shakti Farm No. 1, Baikunth Nagar Police Station Sitarganj for two-two and a half years. During this time, Prakash had illicit relations with Suraj's sister as well as with 36 year old wife Priyanka of police constable Birendra Singh, son of late Raghunath Singh, resident of village Aalavrdhi Nagwa Nath police station Khatima district Udham Singh Nagar. Deceased Prakash had made a video of constable Veerendra's illicit physical relationship with his wife and started blackmailing her and demanding money. The wife had hidden this thing from her husband. But on February 7, Prakash called Virendra. After this his wife told the whole story to Virendra. On this, constable Virendra along with his wife and his associate Naeem Khan alias Bablu conspired to murder Prakash. Prakash was called to Haldwani through his wife. Virendra asked Prakash to delete his wife's video from his mobile. But when Prakash refused, constable Virendra along with his colleagues shot Prakash dead on the evening of 8 February.

On Thursday, police constable Virendra and his associates accused in this case were arrested under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of their confession of their crime during interrogation. The pistol used in the murder and 4 live cartridges were also recovered from his possession. In this case, along with Suraj and Virendra, Virendra's wife and 30 year old Prem Singh, son of late Ravi Shankar Singh, resident of Dhauradam police station Kichha, 50 year old Naeem Khan alias Bablu, son of late Naseem Khan, resident of Indranagar West Ward No. 14, Ujala Nagar Police Station Banbhulpura district, were arrested.
