A very strong and sensitive case has come to light from Nagpur city of Maharashtra which completely embarrasses Khaki and raises serious questions on law and order. A senior police inspector of Panchpaoli Police Station here has been seriously accused of allegedly demanding money as bribe from her victimized and helpless family members in exchange for starting the search for a missing minor girl. The inspector’s cruel argument was that only after the family would pay the expenses for filling the government vehicle with ‘diesel’, the police team would be able to start searching for the girl.
A video of this inhuman incident quickly went viral on social media, after which, in view of the huge uproar and controversy, the accused Senior Inspector Baburao Raut has been removed from the police station with immediate effect.
Daughter was missing since Monday, when reached the police station, got the excuse of ‘diesel’
According to the information received, the minor daughter of the victim’s family had suddenly gone missing on the morning of Monday, May 18. When the distraught family members reached Panchpaoli police station to lodge a complaint of their daughter’s missing and requested for immediate help, the policemen and officers posted there did not take this very sensitive matter seriously.
Senior Police Inspector Baburao Raut, while scolding the family members, reportedly said that there is no diesel in the official police vehicle and if the search has to be started immediately, then they will have to arrange money for diesel. Meanwhile, a person present there secretly made a video of this entire conversation and the police attitude.
Sharp question from viral video: In this video going viral on social media, a person is raising direct questions on the police system in an extremely angry tone – “If the daughter of a big political leader or a VIP administrative officer had gone missing today, would the Nagpur Police have made the same poor excuse of not having diesel in the government vehicle?” As soon as this video surfaced, there was huge anger among the general public against Nagpur Police.
Seeing the controversy escalating, Police Commissioner took action, attached the accused officer to the control room.
As soon as this video spread like wildfire on local media and social media handles, there was a stir in Nagpur Police Commissionerate. Seeing the seriousness of the matter and the public anger, Nagpur Joint Police Commissioner Naveen Reddy immediately took strict cognizance of this.
While giving official confirmation, the Joint Commissioner of Police said that after finding the officer prima facie guilty in the preliminary investigation, Senior Police Inspector Baburao Raut has been immediately transferred from Panchpaoli police station and attached to the Police Control Room. A departmental inquiry has also been ordered against him.
Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule gave instructions for strict action
This shameful incident has also drawn sharp reactions from political circles. Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Cabinet Minister of Maharashtra Government and Guardian Minister of Nagpur, has taken this entire incident very seriously. He clearly said that such insensitivity and corruption in the police department will not be tolerated at any cost.
The Guardian Minister has issued blunt instructions to the top officials of Nagpur Police that not only transfer but also strictest disciplinary and legal action should be ensured against the accused officer, so that in future no one in uniform can dare to behave like this with any helpless complainant. At present, a special team of police is busy searching for the missing minor girl.
