Yogi government has taken a very historic and big step to develop Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow and its surrounding districts on the lines of Delhi-NCR. The state government has intensified efforts to link Uttar Pradesh State Capital Region (UPSCR) with an integrated development model.
Chief Secretary S.P. at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday. In a high-level meeting chaired by Goyal, a detailed discussion was held on the ambitious projects of UPSCR. Under this mega project, 29 major projects have been identified to rejuvenate 26 thousand square kilometer area of 6 surrounding districts including Lucknow, which also includes the massive expansion of Lucknow Metro network to Barabanki and Mohanlalganj.
While giving the launching presentation, LDA Vice President Prathamesh Kumar said that satellite and GIS based regional master plan is being prepared for the entire area.
Connectivity of 6 districts will improve through ‘State Capital Mala’
Under UPSCR, maximum attention has been given to making the transport and connectivity network world-class.
6 districts to be included: Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Rae Bareli, Sitapur and Barabanki.
State Capital Garland: A special regional road network called “State Rajdhani Mala” will be developed to connect these six districts at high speed.
Migration will be banned: Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal said that with the construction of this high-speed connectivity, logistics park, food park and Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway corridor, urban facilities will reach the villages. People will get employment and better life in their own district, which will reduce population pressure and migration on big cities like Lucknow.
10 new metros will run in Lucknow: Barabanki and Mohanlalganj will also be connected
Keeping in view the future traffic needs, in-principle approval has been given for 10 new metro corridors under the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in the capital Lucknow. The Housing and Urban Planning Department has issued instructions to UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) to prepare Alternative Analysis Report (AAR) and Detailed Project Report (DPR) of these routes.
Under the Developed India 2047 vision, these 10 new corridors of approximately 150 kilometers long will be constructed in a phase-wise manner.

Traffic pressure will end
With the construction of these new routes, the journey of passengers to Amausi Airport, Charbagh Railway Station, IIM Road, Jankipuram, Banthra, Mohanlalganj and directly to the neighboring district Barabanki will become very easy and pollution free. According to officials, with the completion of this network, the public transport system of Lucknow city will become like the most modern cities of the world.
